(KGTV) — A 23-year-old man is behind bars after leading San Diego Sheriff's deputies on a short pursuit in a vehicle that was reported stolen.Deputies received a broadcast from Carlsbad Police of a stolen vehicle on Sunday just after 1 p.m. in the area of Palomar Airport Rd. heading toward San Marcos. Nearby deputies began searching the area and located the vehicle unoccupied in the parking lot of a Target on Business Park Dr. in Vista.While they waited for an ASTREA helicopter and canine unit, deputies set up surveillance on the vehicle. After a few minutes, the suspected driver, identified as Dylan Kidd, returned and deputies moved in toward the vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Department (SDSO).Kidd started up the vehicle and led deputies on a four- to five-minute pursuit, during which deputies say he drove recklessly out of the parking lot and onto nearby streets. Kidd eventually left the vehicle and fled into a nearby canyon, according to the department.The vehicle, however, continued and crashed into the garage door of a home on White Sands Drive, causing some minor damage.With the ASTREA helicopter above, deputies were led to Kidd's location after about six minutes and he surrendered to deputies, SDSO said. Kidd was booked into jail and charged with felony evading, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, shoplift/burglary, and hit and run. 1405

SANTA FE, N.M. – Lawmakers in New Mexico have approved a COVID-19 relief bill that will use nearly 0 million to help residents of the state who are struggling during the pandemic.The legislation was passed Tuesday during a special one-day session called by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham as the state experiences a spike in coronavirus cases, like most of the country. The relief package, which was approved with bipartisan support, will allocate 4 million in direct unemployment assistance, providing a one-time ,200 check to all types of unemployed workers.Another 0 million will be allocated for a grant program for small businesses in the state, allowing business owners to apply for grants of up to ,000.About million will go to provide emergency housing assistance, million will go to emergency food banks services, and million will be used for direct economic assistance to low-income residents, in the form of a one-time 0 disbursement per qualified household.Legislators says the funding for these programs will be made available through a transfer of previously received federal funds. That includes about 9 million in unspent funds that were set to expire soon.The bill will also appropriate million from the state general fund to the department of health to provide for COVID-19 testing, contact tracing and vaccine implementation support.“When New Mexicans are in need, we act,” wrote the governor in a tweet after the statehouse passed the bill. “Grants for small businesses, unemployment assistance, emergency housing assistance – all on its way. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's deputies say a father has been arrested months after the death of his infant child in Santee.Daniel Charles Marshall, 34, was arrested on Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and booked into San Diego Central jail for murder and child abuse resulting in death, according to the Sheriff's Department (SDSO).On April 22, 2020, Santee Fire Department responded to a home in the 8600 block of Paseo Del Rey in Santee to a report of a seven-month-old infant in medical distress. The infant was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead three days later.Child abuse investigators responded to the scene and, eventually, homicide detectives took over the case.Homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the infant's father, Marshall, who was arrested this week.Anyone who may have any information about the case is asked to call the SDSO Homicide Unit at 858-285-6330/after hours at 858565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1027
