Both countries, Xi said, should also expand cooperation in economy, trade and investment, and actively explore mode of cooperation between the two countries' enterprises in a third market within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative.
The summit was the second of its kind in the 15-year history of the FOCAC. The first China-Africa summit took place in 2006 in Beijing.
The two-day summit, themed "Africa-China Progressing Together: Win-Win Cooperation for Common Development," will be remembered in history as a new starting point in building a much stronger China-Africa partnership.
These projects span aviation engines, quantum teleportation, intelligent manufacturing and robots, deep space and deep sea probes, new materials, brain science and health related science. The country must place innovation in key S&T areas higher on the agenda, Xi said.
Africa is actively exploring a development path in line with its own conditions and pursuing an African way to address African issues, Xi said in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of a landmark China-Africa summit.
