LONG BEACH (CNS) - A woman was killed early Monday afternoon by a man who used a scooter to assault her on a street in Long Beach.Officers responded about 12:30 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block of North Obispo Avenue, according to Long Beach Police Department Public Information Officer Shaunna Dandoy.``The victim is believed to be a female adult who was walking eastbound towards Obispo and 64th (Street)'' when a man ran up and began assaulting her, Dandoy said.A bystander tried to help, at which time the suspect grabbed a scooter and used it to continue attacking the woman, according to Dandoy.The suspect was last seen running west from the location on foot. Fire department personnel responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene, Dandoy said. Her name and age were not immediately available.Homicide detectives were investigating the fatal assault. 910

Long lines of voters were reported in Ohio and Indiana Tuesday as early voting began in those states. So far, more than 4.5 million ballots have already been cast in the 2020 Presidential Election, according to the U.S. Elections Project.Mail-in, absentee or early in-person voting is already underway in 39 states, according to the Associated Press, with more to follow.In Ohio on Tuesday, hundreds waited outside board offices in Hamilton, Franklin and Cuyahoga counties, which serve voters from the three biggest cities of Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, respectively. Similar lines were reported across Ohio, and they remained long hours after voting started.The U.S. Elections Project has return data for 23 states who are already collecting early votes or mail-in ballots, and shows 4,526,562 ballots have been collected in those states so far. The project is run by a professor at the University of Florida who has tracked voter turnout since 2000.A handful of states report party registration data of the ballots requested and returned. Those seven states account for nearly 1.6 million returned ballots so far. LOS ANGELES  - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 809
