It took a few hours for the news to be released, but by all indications, Ryan Newman is okay. NASCAR officials said Newman had non life-threatening injuries following a horrific crash at the end of the Daytona 500 on Monday.Newman is in serious condition after being transported to the hospital. As Newman approached the finish line of the Daytona 500 on Monday, he was set to win his first Daytona 500 in 12 years. But a nudge from behind sent Newman into the wall as his competitors crossed the finish line. The crash allowed Denny Hamlin to win his second straight Daytona 500. As Hamlin celebrated the win, attention quickly turned to Newman, whose car spun out of control and burst into flames. After Newman's car struck the wall and flipped, it was then struck at full speed by Corey LaJoie's vehicle, causing Newman's car to flip again. Emergency crews raced to rescue Newman following the stunning crash.The celebration for Hamlin was subdued following the race."I think we take for granted sometimes how safe the cars are," Hamlin said. "But No. 1, we're praying for Ryan. Worked really well with Ryan through this whole race, and obviously he got turned right there."Ryan Blaney, who came in second place, described his view of the incident. "We pushed Newman there to the lead, and then we got a push from the 11 (Danny Hamlin's car), and I made a move off 4 (Kevin Harvick's car) on Newman and he blocked it and I kind of went low and he blocked that, so then I was committed to just pushing him to the win and trying to have a Ford win it, and I don't know, we just got bumpers hooked up wrong and turned him," Blaney said. "I hope he's all right. Looked pretty good. Definitely was trying to push him to a win. I don't want to say those things happen. JCPenney announced it plans on closing 154 locations nationwide this summer, with additional closures expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The company has been hemorrhaging locations in recent years as shifts in consumer habits have led customers away from legacy retailers such as JCPenney. Stores closing due to the COVID-19 have hastened the demise for companies like JCPenney. The affected stores will begin store closing sales on June 12. It will take 10 to 16 weeks to close the 154 stores.The loss of 154 locations will reduce the company’s footprint down from 850 stores nationwide. INDIANAPOLIS — The shiny red and white truck was supposed to be shipped to Anderson, Indiana, last month.Shawn Abernathy and his fiance Tiffany found the truck listed on Facebook Marketplace by a page called AMS Car Sales."It was a 1997 Ford F250 it looked brand new. I mean they sent us a video of it it ran beautiful," Abernathy said.After several emails with the owner, who claimed to be a widow, they paid ,200."They asked us to get six eBay cards at 0 a piece to do the down payment. The agreement was we would get the down payment paid and the vehicle would be delivered," Abernathy said.Abernathy was then asked to pay even more money."When we declined they said hold on we will put you over to the financial department and the phone went dead," Abernathy said. "I was pretty upset. I buckled. It tore me up. It destroyed our Christmas. We're still trying to recover from it. Twelve-hundred dollars is a pretty good loss."The manager of AMS Cars on the west side of Indianapolis at 10th Street and Raceway Road said his business has received thousands of phone calls from customers asking about vehicles they found on fake Facebook posts. Their message is if the car is not on their official website, it is not available."A lot of angry customers," AMS Cars manager Sam Sodhi said. "A majority of our time, about 5-7 people that work here go in every day to explain to people whether they are on on the phone email, text message, walk in, 'Hey, kindly report it. Please help us.'"Sodhi said AMS Cars received more than 8,000 phone calls in December about cars they don't have in stock.
