The poll showed that Sanders and Tom Steyer were jockeying for second with 16% and 15% respectively. 15% is a key figure for the race as it is the threshold to receive delegates – anything less results in a goose egg. Helping Biden’s standing with the black vote was this week’s endorsement from Rep. Jim Clyburn. Clyburn, the third-most powerful Democrat in the House, has been one of South Carolina’s most recognizable Democrats for decades. “I know Joe Biden. I know his character, his heart, and his record. Joe Biden has stood for the hard-working people of South Carolina. We know Joe. But more importantly, he knows us,” Clyburn told voters this week. Following Saturday’s race is Super Tuesday when one-third of all delegates are up for grabs. The night could be intriguing for several reasons. One is the foray of Mike Bloomberg into the race. He sat out the first four nominating contests, and has spent a fortune of his own money to advertise in delegate-rich states such as Texas and California. Super Tuesday also could provide clarity on which candidate or candidates will take on Sanders deep into the nominating race. Finally, it could give an indication on whether Democrats need to prepare for a brokered convention. THE BRONX — Police say a man working on a transformer has been killed near an Amtrak rail line in in the Bronx Thursday morning, authorities said.Authorities were called to the scene after 11 a.m.MTA officials said the incident occurred at an Amtrak facility. The facility is located nearby a Con Edison Van Nest substation.FDNY officials confirmed one person was dead and two others sustained minor injuries. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a warning to foodservice providers Wednesday to not use hard-boiled eggs produced by a Georgia company due to an outbreak of Listeria.The CDC says hard-boiled eggs produced by Almark Foods in Gainesville, Georgia is the cause of a Listeria outbreak that has killed one and sickened seven people in five states.The agency warned that consumers ordering foods that are made with hard-boiled eggs, like egg salad or deviled eggs, should ask the provider where they buy their hard-boiled eggs. The CDC advises that consumers not purchase those products if the provider uses Almark eggs or the provider does not know from where the eggs come.The CDC clarified that the Listeria outbreak was only limited to mass-produced eggs provided to food service providers, and the warning does not include Almark hard-boiled eggs that were sold directly in stores or other hard-boiled eggs sold in stores and restaurants.Symptoms of listeria incluide headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions in addition to fever and muscle aches. Symptoms can present themselves between one and four weeks after consuming food tainted with the bacteria.
