Mobs of kangaroos have been raiding patches of grass in the Australian capital Canberra, driven to the city's sports fields, back yards and roadsides by food scarcity.Canberra residents have taken to social media with images of the jumping marsupials exploring outside their usual habitats. But beyond the cute photo opportunities, the hungry kangaroos are at risk of dying on the roads as their feeding times coincide with rush hour.Canberra has more than 30 nature reserves, with most hosting hundreds of Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and it is not unusual to see them in the reserves or in roads or yards nearby, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Parks and Conservation Service Director Daniel Iglesias told CNN.But he said this winter the animals were far more visible."Canberra is experiencing a perfect storm of hardship for its kangaroos. New records have been set in Canberra for very cold, frosty nights this winter. This, coupled with very dry conditions with very little rain at all in June and July, means there is very little food for kangaroos, " Iglesias said, via email."Sports ovals, suburban yards, schoolyards and roadsides are the few places offering any green grass at all in Canberra at the moment and they act as magnets for kangaroos," he said.Driving in areas with large populations of kangaroos is ill-advised during the animals' dawn and dusk feeding times as they can jump in front of moving vehicles without warning. Many larger cars in country areas have "roo bars" on the front of the vehicle, to act as a breaker for those in the car, should a collision with a rogue kangaroo take place.Kangaroos are social animals and live in large groups known as "mobs," often headed by a dominant male."Get to know where your local mob hangs out and avoid them, or slow down, especially during peak movement periods of dusk and dawn," Iglesias said. 1872

NATIONAL CITY (KGTV) -- Police in National City are searching for several suspects who reportedly robbed a jewelry store early Tuesday afternoon. According to police, three suspects entered the Eclipse Jewelry store just before 12:30 p.m. The suspects, only described as police as three black men, smashed three to six jewelry cases and got away with an unknown amount of jewelry. Police are looking into whether or not this incident is linked to a string of jewelry store robberies in late 2018 and early 2017. Most new moms can relate; after being stuck inside with a newborn for several weeks, getting outside for fresh air and a different view is important.Mei Xiang at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. took her newborn panda cub outside the den recently and into the main enclosure.It was a short field trip for the pandas, with Mei Xiang gently nudging her cub along the floor and keeping them out of the smaller den space.These field trips will get longer and more frequent as the cub gains more strength.At eight-weeks-old, the cub is practicing crawling and is not expected to take steps until closer to three-months-old.Zookeepers say the cub is packing on the pounds and has grown a coat of thick, wooly fur, able to help it regulate its body temperature. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — AT&T said crews have made significant progress restoring service to the region on Sunday morning following an explosion on Friday morning outside an AT&T data center.The explosion impacted widespread service interruption reaching outside of just Middle Tennessee. On Sunday morning, the company said power has been restored to four floors of the building and more than 65% of mobile sites affected by the explosion have been restored. More than three feet of water was pumped out of the building's basement on Saturday, however, access to some of the lowers is still limited. AT&T said on Sunday crews will be adding additional cabling and more generators to provide more power into the building to help with restoration efforts."Teams are working to safely bring additional equipment online and reroute services through other facilities in the region. While mobility services have been restored in many areas, we still have more than 17 portable cell sites on the air to aid in communication, including for restoration teams and first responders," AT&T said in an update. "We are bringing in additional resources to support the recovery of wireline voice and data services and expect to have a fleet of 24 additional trailers of disaster recovery equipment on-site by the end of the day."The company did not provide an exact time when it expects service to fully be restored.
