LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Utah man was held without bail Thursday on charges of murder in the deaths of an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy and another man.Rhett McKenzie Nelson, 30, of St. George, wore a navy blue jail uniform during his initial arraignment in Los Angeles Superior Court as the family of Deputy Joseph G. Solano and uniformed deputies with black mourning bands over the badges looked on.Authorities allege Nelson shot Dmitry Koltsov from his vehicle in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, attempted to kill Aleksandr Chudetckii, then fatally shot Solano inside a Jack in the Box in suburban Alhambra. They also say he committed two robberies in Long Beach.Nelson's family says he suffers from mental illness and an opiate addiction. (KGTV) — Long Beach Police and transit officials are investigating whether a crime was committed this week when a man in a suit dragged an unconscious, partially naked man off a train, leaving him on the platform.[Warning: graphic video] Cell phone video shows the moments when the man dragged the other man off the train at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The man recording the video says the unconscious man had just suffered a seizure, Los Angeles ABC-affiliate KABC reported.The man in the suit then grabs the unconscious man's belongings and tosses them off the train and returns to his seat.The man recording the video argued with the man in the suit about what he had done. The two of them continued to argue for about five minutes before the man in the suit gets off the train to check on the unconscious man.Medics eventually arrive to help the unconscious man, who was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is not yet clear.Police and train officials are now investigating if the man in the suit committed a crime by dragging the man off the train."Obviously, this is very disturbing and we never want to see this on our system. Rafael Reyna, a father of four, was identified by his wife, Christel, in multiple media interviews as the man who fell to the ground when he was punched and suffered a fractured skull as the crowd was leaving following the Los Angeles Dodgers' 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks at the end of 13 innings early Saturday, in the longest regular-season game in Dodger Stadium history -- 6 hours, 5 minutes. She told NBC4 she was on Facetime with Rafael Reyna when she heard a woman yell ``Why did you do that?'' as a man approached her husband and cursed at him. Then she heard a crack and the screen went black. She said her husband has swelling and bleeding on the brain.
