NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A veteran wounded in the line of duty, who was told he would never run again, is gearing up to run a marathon in Nashville.Randy Woodward, of Smyrna, Tennessee is in the process of running 10 marathons in five weeks.He will complete each 26.2-mile run while carrying an 8-foot-by-5-foot American flag.“It’s been really great,” said Woodward.  “It will be something to look back on and say you did it. You finished it.”Woodward has already completed marathons in Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines, Iowa; Lexington, Virginia; Arlington, Virginia; Savannah, Georgia and Bowling Green, Ohio. He has plans to run in future events in Louisville, Kentucky; Fort Benning, Georgia and another in Nashville.Woodward was on his second tour in Iraq when he was hit by a roadside bomb. He spent nine months in hospitals recovering.  At the time, doctors told him he would never run again.“Fortunately, I have all my limbs,” said Woodward.  “I’m blessed and thankful for that.”Woodward was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery.Having run a marathon before his injury, Woodward was determined to run again. After recovering, he set his sights on the bold decision to run back-to-back marathons over the course of consecutive weeks.At each stop, Woodward’s efforts and his American flag have been getting a lot of attention.“I got just an outpouring of support from people,” said Woodward.  “It’s been really great.”Woodward said the reason he is running is to spread patriotism, and he hopes his efforts inspire others.“There is just so much divide in this country, and there is so much hate,” Woodward said.   1709

More than 200 interviews have been conducted in the investigation into the disappearance of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, according to the special agent in charge.Tibbetts, 20, disappeared nearly two weeks ago in Brooklyn, a small community an hour east of Des Moines, according to the Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office.The hundreds of interviews are related to tips investigators have received, said Richard Rahn, the special agent in charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for the Major Crime Unit. The sheriff's office is scheduled Tuesday to give an update on the investigation."People are concerned and wanting to help," Rahn said. "We welcome the phone calls and are doing everything."Investigators are continuing to evaluate data, going over the leads list, and having agents in the field to locate Tibbetts. MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin — A Milwaukee man has been charged for the assault and kidnap of a woman who he met on the app 'Tagged.'According to the criminal complaint, the victim said she entered a vehicle with Davoncia Kelly McAfee near the intersection of 58th and Hampton on Nov. 13. While in the car, an unknown man appeared from the back seat, wrapped his arms around her face, put what felt like a handgun to the back of her neck and told her to come to the back seat where he placed a blindfold over her eyes.McAfee then drove the vehicle for approximately 15 more minutes before coming to a stop. He and the man in the backseat told the victim not to move or scream as they led her out of the vehicle and up a set of stairs into an apartment living room area.The victim was then assaulted by multiple male individuals in the home.She was later taken back to her vehicle while still wearing the blindfold and was told not to turn around when she was dropped off or they would "blow her head off."During the incident, the suspects took the victim's cellphone, sweatshirt, Wisconsin ID card, and paperwork from her employer.The victim later made a Facebook post using images from McAfee's Tagged account to identify him and turn him into the Milwaukee Police Department. Police conducted interviews with McAfee where he admitted to setting up dates on the internet for sex.Police also executed a search warrant at the apartment where the victim was taken. They found a magazine for a Smith and Wesson handgun with six unfired .40 caliber cartridges and an ammunition tray with more unfired cartridges inside the residence.McAfee faces charges for First Degree Sexual Assault (Forcibly Aiding & Abetting) - PTAC and As a Party to a Crime, Kidnapping (Carries Forcibly) - PTAC, As a Party to a Crime.
