Museums from coast to coast will have free admission on Saturday as part of Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Live. Art museums, science centers and other attractions are participating in Saturday's event, which was created to promote STEM programs. In order to take advantage of free admission at museums, tickets are available on Smithsonian Magazine's webpage. Tickets are limited to one person plus a guest per email address. Once you enter your name, email address and select the museum you wish to attend, your ticket will appear on the next screen and be emailed to you. MILWAUKEE — Jacob Blake is out of the hospital and in a rehabilitation center, his attorney says.Blake was in Froedtert Hospital since Aug. 23, when Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey fired seven rounds into Blake's back.Blake's attorney declined to say when exactly Blake left the hospital, or how long he is expected to remain at the rehabilitation center. Blake's family said he had been paralyzed from the waist down. It appears his condition has improved somewhat, as he is now recovering in an unidentified rehabilitation center.Blake was initially handcuffed to his hospital bed after the shooting. Police said at the time that the handcuffs were necessary because Blake still had an outstanding warrant on him. After he posted bond and with the help of local lawmakers, the handcuffs were removed, and the police officers guarding his door left.Officer Sheskey has not been charged in the shooting. Sheskey's attorney says the officer believed at the time that Blake may have been trying to drive off with a woman's child.On August 23, Officers were initially called to a domestic incident. There, they attempted to arrest Blake on an outstanding warrant for third degree sexual assault charges. Blake tried to get into his car, when the officer fired his service gun into Blake's back.The shooting quickly became national news as protests erupted in Kenosha and across the U.S.After a few nights of demonstrations in Kenosha, a 17-year-old man opened fire on the crowd, hitting three people. Two people died and the third was taken to the hospital. The teen, Kyle Rittenhouse, was arrested at his home in Illinois and he is now facing extradition to Wisconsin and charges in the shooting deaths. MUNCIE, Ind. – The Muncie, Indiana animal shelter is asking for the public’s help after they found 43 cats in a U-Haul.In a tweet, the shelter says they were called to help Muncie Police Department Officers around 11 p.m. Friday after they found the cats in the U-Haul with temperatures below 20 degrees.The shelter says a lot of the cats were pregnant and some had hernias. 382

MINNEAPOLIS — A truck driver who drove into a large crowd of protesters on a bridge in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd has been charged with two criminal counts.Prosecutors charged 35-year-old Bogdan Vechirko, of Otsego, Minnesota, on Thursday with making threats of violence and criminal vehicular operation.On May 31, Vechirko drove his fuel tanker truck through a crowd of protesters who had shut down a bridge on I-35 in Minneapolis. Even though thousands of pedestrians were on the bridge, Vechirko continued to pull forward.Video from the incident shows that one protester stumbled near the truck, and that's when Vechirko says stopped out of caution. Protesters then attacked him and vandalized his truck.The Star Tribune reports that the charges allege he sought to "scare" protesters out of his path. In addition, the charges also allege a re-enactment with a similar truck showed he would have had plenty of time to stop after seeing the crowd on the highway.Vechirko claimed he was returning from a fuel delivery south of the city and didn't mean to drive through the protests. He also claims that he wouldn't have been able to immediately stop the truck ahead of the crowd without the use of a handbrake that could have caused it to jackknife and cause further injuries. 1308
