Gavin Newsom's measures aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus unfairly target the industry and are demanding they be allowed to reopen.Scott Street, a lawyer for the California Fitness Alliance, said Tuesday that the suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A third Los Angeles police officer has tested positive for the coronavirus and was exhibiting symptoms inside the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division station for several days this week, according to the department.The officer, who had recently returned from a vacation out of the country, was "coughing and sweating" during roll call in Central Division, which patrols areas that include downtown L.A., two of the officials said.Despite protests from several officers in the station, the affected officer was allowed to work for at least two days this week, according to the Los Angeles Times.The officer was tested for the virus, and a positive result came back Saturday, according to three law enforcement officials. Additional officers who worked with the afflicted patrol officer were expected to be quarantined, officials said.Saturday night, the LAPD reported that it had disinfected all of the officer's work spaces and common areas inside Central Division."We have also identified anyone who may have come into contact with the employee and directed them to contact their healthcare provider for evaluation," the LAPD reported.The department said it also established guidelines for all employees who either exhibit symptoms of the virus or cone in contact with someone who may be infected. LONDON (AP) — A half-million people in the English city of Liverpool will be regularly tested for COVID-19 in Britain's first citywide trial of widespread, rapid testing that the government hopes will be a new weapon in combatting the pandemic.In a statement Tuesday, the government said that testing would begin later this week at sites throughout the city using various technologies, including new methods that can provide results in an hour or less.Everyone who lives or works in the city in northwestern England will be offered the test, regardless of whether they have symptoms.Through a partnership between Liverpool City Council, NHS Test, and Trace and Ministry of Defence, the government would provide the tests.The government said approximately 2,000 military personnel on Thursday would help plan the logistics and deliver tests."Anyone who tests positive, using either a lateral flow test or an existing swab test, must self-isolate along with their household immediately, and their contacts will be traced," officials stated in the press release.The government said anyone who tests – and contacts required to self-isolate – will be entitled to the ￡500 Test and Trace Support Payment.On Monday, 18,950 new confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded in the UK, the BBC reported. 1301
