The one percent has been very vocal and direct about things," says DiCarlantonio.Vocal is just half of it.Little Man Ice Cream owner, Paul Tamburello, posted to Facebook saying in one instance a customer spat on an employee. Dr. Anthony Fauci said during an interview on Wednesday that a World Health Organization expert was “not correct” for stating that coronavirus infections from those who are asymptomatic are “very rare.”Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, a World Health Organization’s infectious disease expert, walked back her comments from Monday one day later, qualifying her statement by saying it’s not the official policy of the WHO."I used the phrase 'very rare.' I think that's misunderstanding to state that asymptomatic transmission globally is very rare. What I was referring to was a subset of studies," Van Kerkhove said during a press conference on Tuesday. "I was just trying to answer a question at a press conference, I wasn't stating a policy of the WHO or anything like that."While the majority of coronavirus cases come from those who are symptomatic, Fauci said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” that the spread from those who are asymptomatic is not uncommon."The evidence that we have given the percentage of people, which is about 25, 45-percent of the totality of infected people, likely without symptoms," he said. "And we know from epidemiological studies that they can transmit to someone who is uninfected, even when they're without symptoms. "Both asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic spread huge problem for controlling disease because folks shedding virus while asymptomatic pre-symptomatic has one advantage: You can use contact tracing to find folks they infected. But that doesn't help prevent pre-symptomatic spread"Jha cited a May Swiss study that indicated that between 40 and 60% of all coronavirus cases originated from people when they didn't have symptoms at the time of the spread.The debate comes as a number of states are continuing to see an increase in coronavirus cases. EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - Renovations are underway at the East County Performing Arts Center to turn the nearly 50-year-old performance hall into a rock and roll concert venue."We have to change the vibe, the feel of what this building is," said Dirk Epperson, El Cajon's Director of Public Works.The venue closed in 2009 when the recession forced cuts in the city budget. Now, the renovations come as tour promoter Live Nation prepares to take over the venue. The City of El Cajon entered into a five year deal with the concert company to manage the building. As part of the agreement, Live Nation will bring 50 events to the venue in 2019, and as many as 70 events by 2023. Live Nation also manages the House of Blues in San Diego and Mattress Firm Amphitheater in Chula Vista."We're not sure what it will be like," said Mayor Bill Wells.  "We've never had this regular, steady diet of top name acts that are coming in. So nobody's quite sure how much this is going to have a ripple effect around El Cajon. But everybody thinks it will be positive."The city is now spending .3 million to upgrade the facility. Improvements include new amenities like modern concessions, a more open entrance, and lobby area and new plush seating in the first few rows. The seating capacity for the main hall will also increase to 1,300. Part of the plan also calls for a brand new VIP Lounge at the back of the venue. The money for the project comes from the sale of the old police headquarters.As for what kind of acts will fill the venue, Epperson said it's entirely up to Live Nation."It can pretty much be any type of act or band," he said, adding the city will let the experts decide. "But you can imagine the ones that are on their way up or on their way down will be coming to this size venue."Smaller, local performances like school concerts and recitals will still be held at the venue, which Wells says is part of the community. EL CAJON (CNS) - A 21-year-old man accused of leading Border Patrol agents on a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash on Interstate 8 in Boulevard, killing three of the suspected undocumented immigrants riding in the pickup and injuring seven others, was charged today with murder and other counts.Arraignment for Luis Alberto Virgen, a U.S. citizen who lives in Tijuana, was postponed until Dec. 18 so he can hire an attorney. He was charged with three counts each of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter, along with seven counts of reckless driving causing injury.Virgen, who is being held on million bail, faces up to 45 years to life in prison.Virgen allegedly sped off when federal officers tried to pull over the passenger-packed white Chevrolet Silverado he was driving near the Mexican border in eastern San Diego County shortly before 4:30 p.m. last Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.RELATED: Truck fleeing Border Patrol crashes in Boulevard; 3 killedWith the agents giving chase, Virgen entered Interstate 8 at Buckman Springs Road and fled to the east briefly before exiting at Ribbonwood Road and re-entering the freeway, this time headed west, the Border Patrol reported.After fleeing for several more miles, the suspect ran over a tire- flattening spike strip that agents had laid across the roadway in his path east of Crestwood Road, according to the federal agency.About a minute later, the Silverado -- occupied by a single passenger in the front and the rest unrestrained in the cargo bed -- veered off the interstate, went up a dirt embankment, became airborne, overturned and rolled back down the sloping roadside onto the freeway.Virgen was the only one in the truck wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and the others were ejected, CHP public-affairs Officer Travis Garrow said. Two of the male passengers and the sole female member of the group died at the scene of the crash.The names of the deceased were withheld pending family notification. Paramedics took Virgen and the surviving passengers to a hospital for treatment of moderate to serious injuries, Garrow said.About an hour after the fatal accident, Border Patrol personnel in the area came across another vehicle believed to have been involved in the apparent human-smuggling attempt and arrested a second man.
