We know adults do the cheesiest things online at times, but a new internet challenge takes the cake. Or in this case, the cheese. Popping up across social media is the 'cheesed challenge,' where parents and older siblings record themselves flinging slices of cheese at babies' faces. The trend was started Tuesday by Michigan dad Charles Amara, who posted the video with the caption: "You asked for it, here it is! Attack of the cheese Episode 2. He wasn't happy after this one..."In the video, the father is seen approaching the baby with the dairy dangling in his hand. He then sends the cheese flying onto the toddler's face, leaving him visibly stunned. With more than 142,000 shares and almost 10,000 comments, the video has gone viral in just a few days. The peculiar prank had already taken on a life of its own, before the original poster decided to remove the video. Inspired followers have started posting videos of flying cheese and the babies' reaction. 977

When asked about law enforcement’s response to the ongoing protests, the director of the National Police Foundation, Dr. Frank Straub, said the rhetoric must be toned down. Straub pointed to the Charlotte Police Department, which worked with activists and now its officers stand in a line without riot gear. “And their whole idea is community engagement and community dialogue,” said Straub. “And so, we haven't seen in Charlotte the same level of disruption and violence that we've seen in some cities.”Straub calls Charlotte's response a model for other cities. He also notes when violence escalates in crowds, police should do whatever they can to limit damage or injuries. That's a point also made by a Joe Deedon, a former SWAT member who now runs a consulting company for law enforcement training. Deedon says a softer approach may work with peaceful protestors, but the situation can change quickly.“You're starting to see a lot of cities kind of try to work with these two new schools of thought, right, with that soft handed approach at the beginning, build more of that rapport, try to avoid problems that usually tend to take place later on during the events,” said Deedon, founder of president of TAC*ONE Consulting. Deedon says we saw that shift in Minneapolis. After a destructive first few nights, police took a hard stance. Deedon says police may have to take measures to protect protestors when rioters or looters are in the same crowd. 1464

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Congressional Black Caucus is working on a package of police reforms as the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement demands action in response to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. It's still in the early stages, but some of the proposals circulating include a federal chokehold ban, a review of police training standards, and changes to the doctrine that protects officers from legal liabilities. These reforms only breach the surface of the 479

Two sisters, ages 5 and 8, were found safe today after being lost in California woods for nearly two days.“1.4 miles away from their house and this was rugged territory. This is an extreme environment, and how they were out there for 44 hours is pretty amazing,” said William Honsal with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office during a press conference Monday.Police say the girls’ outdoor survival training with 4-H, the largest youth development organization in the U.S., may have helped them. “There are basic concepts that if we really understand, those basic concepts can take us quite a ways,” says Jessica Krebs, a survival instructor with SERE training.SERE—which stands for Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape—is commonly used in training the military. One of the first survival lessons Krebs teaches is to make yourself be seen. It was reported the young sisters lost their voices while yelling for help. The girls lost their voices yelling for help. “It's really good that these girls felt secure enough and had good, good parenting to say, ‘Yes, I can be loud and I’m going to let people know I need help,’” Krebs says. According to reports, the girls survived by hiding in a huckleberry bush and drinking water from its leaves. When it comes to survival, Krebs says accessing water is far more important than accessing food. Krebs also says to use dead airspace to regulate body temperature.“When we need to stay thermally regulated, we need to not get too hot or too cold. Creating dead air space around her body is what's essential,” she says. “That's going to create the insulation that we need.” The girls were dehydrated and cold, but first responders say they are in good spirits and will be fine. 1732
