FBI Director Chris Wray told senators Wednesday that the FBI's investigation into Christine Blasey Ford's sexual assault allegation against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was "limited in scope" and thus "consistent with the standard process."Ford accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at a house party when the two were in high school. Both Ford and Kavanaugh testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee last month, prompting the weeklong FBI investigation and hundreds to protest on Capitol Hill. The Senate reviewed the FBI's findings after they were sent it last Thursday and confirmed Kavanaugh by a 50-48 vote Saturday afternoon. Kavanaugh has denied all allegations against him.During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday, California Democrat Sen. Kamala Harris asked Wray if the FBI was given full discretion over the investigation or whether it was limited by directions from the White House."Unlike most investigations like the sort that you and I and (Democratic Sen. FALLBROOK (KGTV) - One person is dead after she was hit by a vehicle while walking along the shoulder of a road in Fallbrook with her husband.CHP officers say the 60-year-old woman was walking with her husband just after 5 p.m. northbound on the east shoulder in the 2700 block of Gird Road north of Laketree Drive. An approaching pickup truck heading northbound left the roadway and struck the woman. The truck stopped for a moment before fleeing the scene northbound on Gird Rd.North County Fire Protection District and CHP responded and crews began life saving measures at the scene, but the woman was pronounced dead. Her 60-year-old husband was not injured.The truck involved in the crash is described as an older model pickup truck that's dark in color. The truck will likely have damage to the right front side.Investigators were reviewing surveillance footage from the area to learn more about what happened.Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspected vehicle or information about the crash is asked to call CHP at 858-637-3800. 1060

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman was injured following a high-speed pursuit that ended with a rollover crash in Escondido Friday.A California Highway Patrol officer taking part in a saturation patrol for the Labor Day weekend saw the woman speeding on north Interstate 15 and Mission Road about noon, the CHP said.The woman exited and got back on the freeway in a stolen Toyota Corolla, heading south at speeds up to 100 miles an hour, said officers.Eventually, the woman crashed as she tried to to take the westbound SR-78 ramp. The car rolled over on the freeway embankment.CHP officers said the woman, who is in her 40s, was not wearing a seat belt. She was not thrown from the car.Paramedics found the woman unconscious and took her to the hospital.Alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash, officers said. 822

"Can't stop thinking about him and about that day," said Marc Engelhardt.Engelhardt calls the last week all-consuming and painful, since the moment he doubled back during a six-hour bike ride to see what was keeping his friends - only to discover the horrific aftermath. His friend Kevin Lentz, 36, a husband and new father, was struck and killed on an Escondido street, hit head-on by a dark sedan which promptly took off."Disbelief, surreal," said Engelhardt.RELATED: Friends mourn bicyclist killed in hit-and-run crashPolice say they discovered the heavily damaged car about a half mile away. On Thanksgiving, they announced the arrest of a suspect, 41-year-old Jamison Connor, on an unrelated parole warrant related to weapons, drugs and DUI charges."Certainly a sense of relief," said Engelhardt.Engelhardt says news of the arrest came as Lentz's family came together."Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. He's a food guy. Yesterday was a special time for them ... They were trying to focus on how great Kevin was. Emotionally exhausting is probably the best way to put it, all these mixed feelings ... FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) – The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting in Fallbrook that left a person dead late Thursday night.The shooting was reported at around 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of South Vine Street.Responding deputies arrived to find a person suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The shooting victim, who was not identified, was declared dead at the scene.Investigators are trying to determine the events that led up to the shooting.A description of the suspected shooter was not immediately available.
