A 28-year-old openly gay first-time candidate for a seat in the Hawaii state legislature defeated a Proud Boys leader in this month's election.Adrian Tam defeated Nicholas Ochs by carrying 63% of the vote in the race to represent Hawaii's District 22 — which covers Waikiki, Ala Moana, and Kakaako on Oahu — in the state House of Representatives.According to The Daily Beast and NBC News, Tam will be the only openly LGBTQ+ person currently serving in the Hawaii legislature.Tam said that throughout the general election campaign, he was "bombarded" with hateful messages from his opponents' campaign."It's almost to a harassment level," Tam told NBC News.The Ochs campaign Facebook page was removed in September for violating platform policies. He has been criticized for "offensive posts" about the Jewish and LGBTQ+ communities, according to NBC News. The Daily Beast reports that Ochs received an endorsement from Roger Stone, a longtime Trump ally and political provocateur.Ochs told NBC News that he had also received harassing messages from Tam's supporters, and denied that he is a racist.But despite his messy race with Ochs, Tam told The Daily Beast that his campaign's biggest challenge came in unseating incumbent Tom Brower in the primary election. A 26-year-old tattoo artist was arrested on sexual abuse and assault charges after an incident involving an intoxicated teen last month.According to police documents, a 19-year-girl was offered a free thigh tattoo at the Dark Side Tattoo shop in Phoenix. Arturo Emmanuel Palafox and the victim were reportedly alone in the shop when he was giving the teen her tattoo on March 16, 2018. The pair reportedly left to get a bottle of Crown Royal and were both drinking during the incident. Police paperwork says Palafox engaged in unwanted sexual contact and intercourse with the intoxicated victim several times, photographed her and was seen on surveillance video stirring her drink when she left the room. The victim reportedly noticed a green powdery substance in her cup when she returned from a trip to the bathroom. A family member of the victim contacted ABC15 and said the victim could not remember portions of the incident, matching similar reports from police paperwork. Police say the victim contacted her sister during the incident and said she had been raped. Her sister showed up at the tattoo shop and was eventually able to take her from the scene. She alerted police that Palafox was leaving the shop and police were able to detain him during a traffic stop. Evidence collected included a small bag of green powder, a bottle of alcohol, unopened condoms and surveillance footage from the tattoo shop.Palafox was booked into jail on 15 counts of felony sex assault, six counts of felony sex abuse, one count of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful recording and one count of kidnapping.  1669

(KGTV) - Southwest Airlines announced plans to begin offering flights to four Hawaiian airports later this year.The airlines will begin selling tickets sometime in 2018 for flights to Honolulu International Airport, Lihue Airport, Kona International Airport at Keahole, and Kahului Airport.Southwest didn't say when the flights would begin service to the islands, prices for flights, or from which airports flights would depart from on the U.S. mainland.A Hawaii-specific page on Southwest's website has since gone live as well.Southwest is reportedly waiting for federal regulatory approvals as certification is required for flights over long distances of water, multiple outlets reported. Extra pilot training and stringent maintenance and replacement of parts are required for flights making such a trip.The news comes on the heels of the airlines said ticket sales have dipped in the wake of a fatal accident aboard a Southwest flight earlier this month. 991
