Celebrities, politicians and professional athletes faced a backlash this week as several revealed that they had been tested for the coronavirus, even when they didn’t have symptoms. That’s fueling a perception that the wealthy and famous have been able to jump to the head of the line to get tested while others have been turned away. But the concerns over preferential treatment underscore a fundamental truth about inequalities baked into the American health care system — those with financial means can often receive a different level of service.Several high-profile athletes tested positive for the virus, including Brooklyn Nets' Kevin Durant. He is among the four Brooklyn Nets who have tested positive for the new coronavirus. A backlash roiled across social media Wednesday, as several celebrities and professional athletes revealed that they had been tested for the coronavirus, even when they didn't have a fever or other tell-tale symptoms. 964

Exposing skin to sunlight is a convenient way to meet our vitamin D needs, which is crucial for bone health. That might make you wonder: Does wearing sunscreen interfere with vitamin D levels and potentially cause vitamin D deficiency? The short answer is yes. But before you toss your SPF 30, dermatologists say the relationship between sunscreen and vitamin D is much more nuanced than that.According to Dr. Henry W. Lim, chair emeritus of the department of dermatology at the Henry Ford Health System and former president of the American Academy of Dermatology, if sunscreen is supplied in a thick layer it "can effectively block sunlight and cause a lack of vitamin D synthesis in skin," Lim said. A thick layer is defined as roughly equivalent to about 1 ounce, or the size of one golf ball, for the full body, he said."However, in the real world ... most people apply less than this amount," Lim added. In other words, "the 'in use' SPF is actually lower than the labeled SPF."So, you may not have to worry about vitamin D deficiency if you're not putting enough sunscreen on in the first place. 1113

DENVER -- For years, Denver Parks and Recreation has had a goose management program in place that involved hazing and relocation. Now, with the help of the US Department of Agriculture, they are trying a new approach.Parks and Rec officials say the easiest way to lower the geese population is by capturing and processing them as food for families in need, or for charitable organizations.Executive Director of Denver Parks and Recreation, Scott Gilmore, says the USDA is in charge of all the steps.“They are actually collecting geese in specific parks and they are taking them to a processor where they are processed and they are donating them to needy families.”It’s something many cities across the country have already been doing for years.Parks and rec says this plan will help them address the population problem directly. The USDA began collecting birds about two weeks ago and will continue to do so throughout specific Denver parks. What is still unclear is where around Denver the meat will go after it is processed. 1037
