Congress has passed the biggest investment in national parks in decades.The House voted Wednesday to approve the Great American Outdoors Act, a sweeping conservation and public lands bill, which President Donald Trump has pledged to sign into law. Over the next five years, it will put up to .5 billion towards a backlog in needed maintenance for roads, facilities and more.“So, the park service, instead of doing band-aid fixes, they will have reliable, consistent funding to start doing some of these priority repairs, to ensure that our park service sites are safe, accessible, and they'll be around for generations to come,” said Marcia Argust, Director of the Restore America’s Parks Project.Argust advocated for the Great American Outdoors Act. She says this is the perfect time to make the investment, because Americans are looking to get outdoors more during the COVID-19 pandemic.The parks service has found the legislation will create 100,000 additional jobs. That's on top of the boost to businesses in surrounding communities that rely on visitors.Plus, the recreation industry as a whole supports 5.2 million jobs.“So, those are really important to sustain now more than ever, so this legislation during these times makes a lot of sense,” said Argust.The bill does not call for using taxpayer dollars. (KGTV) - Its been almost six months since a drunk driver destroyed an iconic flower shop, the Coronado Flower Lady.Shanel Albert had only taken over as owner a year before the accident happened. She's continued to operate despite many challenges along the way.The business took a financial hit, forced to sell their van and take out a loan.But from the wreckage came kindness and love from the community.Shanel's husband Steve worked tirelessly to build a new flower shop.His friends at WeldTec Designs let him use their shop and tools, all while helping him along the way. COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A 50-year-old woman stabbed a victim in the face with a grill fork so hard it became embedded, according to court documents.Shawn Jones is scheduled to appear in court Monday to face a felonious assault charge. The incident happened Saturday at Jones’ home near Cincinnati, according to Colerain Township police officer Kyle Frandoni.The fork tines were approximately 2 inches long, Frandoni wrote in his affidavit.Jones was arrested Sunday and is being held at the Justice Center. 555

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A SWAT officer with the Cincinnati Police Department was suspended after reports he allowed a civilian to don parts of his uniform on Halloween, Lt. Steve Saunders confirmed Friday. Officer John Neal was placed on administrative duty pending the results of an internal investigation. His LinkedIn profile lists him as a K-9 handler as well as a SWAT officer with the department; Saunders said he was off-duty when the incident occurred. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies and at least two Cincinnati lieutenants were called to Anderson Towne Center early Thursday morning, according to body camera recordings released by the sheriff's office. In one recording, a deputy mentions receiving reports of a man in SWAT gear harassing patrons.When deputies arrive, the man in question identifies himself as Neal's friend and claims to not have realized donning Neal's gear would be a problem. "I've known him for years," he says. "I didn't know this was a [expletive] issue. It was just a Halloween thing."Later in the same recording, the man asks one deputy what will happen to Neal.“It ain’t good, I can tell you that,” the deputy replies. “It’s pretty [expletive] stupid for this to be happening right now.”A bartender at a nearby restaurant told deputies the men arrived in the patrol car.
