President Donald Trump slammed his administration's top infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, during a conference call with his campaign staff, calling him a "disaster," according to Axios, The Associated Press and NBC News.During the call, Trump reportedly claimed, without evidence, that more than 800,000 people would have died of COVID-19 by now "if I listened to him." As of Monday, more than 200,000 have died of COVID-19.Trump also called Fauci a "nice guy," who had been in his position for "500 years." Fauci has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.During the call, Trump added that he would be unable to remove Fauci from his position without significant public backlash."Every time he goes on television, there's always a bomb, but there's a bigger bomb if you fire him. This guy's a disaster," Trump said.Trump added during his campaign call that he believed Americans were ready to move on from the COVID-19 crisis."People are tired of COVID. I have these huge rallies," Trump said, according to CNN. "People are saying whatever. Just leave us alone. They're tired of it. People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots."Trump's comments came a day after Fauci was interviewed on 60 Minutes. During that interview, Fauci said he was "absolutely not surprised" to learn that Trump had contracted COVID-19 earlier this month, citing the fact that the President often appeared in large crowds without a mask.Fauci, one of the most plain-spoken members of the White House's coronavirus task force, has said that the Trump administration has taken steps during the pandemic to limit his media appearances. He also criticized the Trump campaign last week after he said it used an interview clip taken in March out of context and without his permission in an ad that has been targeted to key swing states. On Monday, former Vice President Joe Biden issued the following statement on Trump's comments on Dr. Fauci: 2042

RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - The San Diego County Sheriff’s sex crimes task force is investigating reports of a Ramona family who offered free train rides to families at their home, despite the presence of a registered sex offender. The Green family’s miniature railroad was years in the making. Recently, the family invited the Ramona community to visit the property. However, the Megan’s Law website reports 45-year-old Christopher Green, who lives at the home with his parents, is a registered sex offender. His convictions include lewd acts with a child under 14, the Megan’s Law site indicates.10News went to the Greens’ home to ask why the family didn’t let the public know about their son’s background. Green’s father would not go on camera but said his son has paid his dues, the incident was in the past, and the family is moving on. He added there would be plenty of supervision at the holiday train rides and said there’s more to his son’s conviction than meets the eye. Green’s father also said his son has a learning disability. The Sheriff’s Department issued a statement which reads in part, “The sexual assault felony enforcement task force was made aware of the event and has opened an investigation. We will be taking measures to keep the community in Ramona safe for this event.” 1298

President Donald Trump’s physical Dr. Sean Conley confirmed Friday that the president is taking an experimental antibody treatment to help him fight the coronavirus following his diagnosis this morning.Dr. Conley said Friday afternoon that Trump is "fatigued."Trump is taking the Regeneron antibody cocktail, which is currently in a clinical trial. Conley said that Trump has been treated with a single 8 gram dose, which Conley said was infused "without incident."Trump is also said to be taking Vitamin D, zinc, famotidine, melatonin and daily aspirin. The Regeneron trial has only been tried on 275 patients as of this week, but the company said earlier this week that it has showed promising results.Regeneron confirmed that Trump was given the treatment under a "compassionate use request.""In the USA, this type of compassionate use program is also known as an Expanded Access Program (EAP) and is intended for patients with serious or life-threatening conditions, who do not have any viable or available treatment options, and are unable to participate in ongoing clinical trials," Regeneron said in a statement. The plan is to enroll 2,000 patients in early studies of the treatment."After months of incredibly hard work by our talented team, we are extremely gratified to see that Regeneron's antibody cocktail REGN-COV2 rapidly reduced viral load and associated symptoms in infected COVID-19 patients," said George D. Yancopoulos, M.D., Ph.D., President and Chief Scientific Officer of Regeneron. "The greatest treatment benefit was in patients who had not mounted their own effective immune response, suggesting that REGN-COV2 could provide a therapeutic substitute for the naturally-occurring immune response. These patients were less likely to clear the virus on their own, and were at greater risk for prolonged symptoms. The treatment is a combination of two monoclonal and was designed specifically to block infectivity of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, the company said.“The two potent, virus-neutralizing antibodies that form REGN-COV2 bind non-competitively to the critical receptor binding domain of the virus's spike protein, which diminishes the ability of mutant viruses to escape treatment and protects against spike variants that have arisen in the human population, as detailed in Science.” Regeneron said in a statement. “Preclinical studies have shown that REGN-COV2 reduced the amount of virus and associated damage in the lungs of non-human primates.”According to Regeneron, the treatment has been tried on hospitalized and non-hospitalized patients and as a preventative for those who have had close contact with coronavirus patients. So far, the drug has been particularly promising for non-hospitalized patients.Regeneron said the treatment reduces the viral load from the coronavirus, and boosts the body’s immune response to the virus. 2890

Rescuers in Mexico City pushed through debris Thursday at an elementary school in an urgent attempt to reach a 12-year-girl, two days after a powerful earthquake trapped her and killed at least 250 people across central Mexico. The rescue attempt at the capital's Colegio Enrique Rebsamen came amid concerns the structure could buckle further. It was one of many searches underway at buildings that collapsed in the region after Tuesday's magnitude 7.1 quake, the country's second major temblor in less than two weeks. 525

Rap musician T.I. was not happy to hear that a Florida student was being denied a meal for being 15 cents short on the first day of school. Last week, T.I. announced he was going to pay for the student's school lunch bill, for the entire year. "This s--- is despicable!!!" T.I. tweeted. "This is the kinda s--- that deters kids from coming to school. I’d like to take care of her school lunch for the year. I hate to hear this type of thing happening to our children. Petty a-- peon a--, poor excuse for a grown person."Earlier this month, Kimberly Aiken told WKMG-TV in Orlando that her daughter, a sophomore at University High School in Orange City, Florida, was told that she owed 15 cents when she went through the lunch line. When she told the cashier that she didn't have any money on her, the cashier allegedly threw the food away.Aiken's daughter did not eat anything for the rest of the school day.According to CBS News, Aiken signed her daughter up for a free and reduced-cost lunch program at University High School. However, the program hadn't taken effect yet. Aiken suspects that the 15-cent deficit was carried over from last year.A spokesperson for the Volusia County Public Schools said the district has contacted the family directly about the issue. 1310
