Tennis star Venus Williams has reached a settlement in the wrongful death suit centered around a fatal car accident, according to court documents.The accident, in which the other driver's Hyundai Accent crashed into Williams' Toyota Sequoia, resulted in the death of Jerome Barson two weeks later. His wife, Linda, was driving and was injured when the crash happened at an intersection in Palm Beach Gardens.Court filings from last week show that the case was dismissed with prejudice after a settlement was reached between Williams and Barson's estate, but the settlement amount was not listed.No charges were filed against the tennis star and a second driver over the crash in June 2017, Florida authorities said.An investigation supported by video surveillance showed Williams did not violate the other driver's right of way, the Palm Beach Gardens Police said in an investigative report obtained by CNN affiliate WPBF."Based upon this investigation and relevant Florida state statutes, no charges will be filed in this case," the report said. 1054

The Arizona state prison near Yuma is under lockdown after authorities were able to contain a riot involving hundreds of inmates Thursday night.Inmates reportedly attacked prison personnel around 6:45 p.m local time at the medium-custody Cheyenne Unit of the complex.Officials say around 600 inmates were involved in the disturbance, which included throwing rocks, setting fire to mattresses and other property in the yard and breaking into the prison health unit. ADC response and tactical teams from Yuma, Lewis, and Tucson complexes brought the incident under control around 9 pm., according to a statement from corrections officials.All prison staff are safe and accounted for.The inmates involved are being contained in a fenced recreation yard as ADC investigates. Additional criminal charges are pending for any inmates involved in violent activity.  900

The assistant commandant of the Marine Corps has tested positive for the coronavirus, days after he and members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff were in a Pentagon meeting with a Coast Guard leader who was infected with the virus. The Marine Corps says Gen. Gary L. Thomas tested positive for COVID-19. He attended a meeting of the Joint Chiefs on Friday. U.S. officials say none of the other top military leaders in the meeting, including Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, have so far tested positive. TEMPE, Ariz. — A Tempe bar is under investigation for allegedly allowing employees who had tested positive for COVID-19 to continue working, as well as allegedly violating the governor's executive order to enforce social distancing measures, the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control said Thursday.According to a news release, Varsity Tavern, a bar and restaurant in downtown Tempe, reportedly told the Arizona Department of Liquor on Wednesday that it had closed in light of the investigation.
