Calling the rhetoric "obviously from those who attempt to smear China," Lu said the logic behind the rhetoric is that "a strong nation is bound to seek hegemony."

China regards the Czech Republic as an important cooperation partner in the CEE region and is willing to work with the Czech side to strengthen synergy of the two countries' development in combination with the "Belt and Road Initiative," Xi said during a meeting with Jan Hamacek, chairman of the Czech Chamber of Deputies.

Xi arrived in Prague on Monday for a three-day state visit to the European country. It is the first state visit by a Chinese president in 67 years since the two countries established diplomatic ties. It is also Xi's maiden visit to the CEE region since he assumed presidency in 2013 and his first trip to Europe this year.

He also called on both countries to conduct production capacity cooperation in order to exert China's advantage on equipment manufacture and expedite Sri Lanka's industrialization.

"With more than 5,000 German companies now established in China, it was a natural next step to start a similar award in China,"she stressed.
