At least 14 people have been killed, several more are missing and hundreds have been injured after an earthquake struck Albania on Tuesday,The quake, which had a preliminary rating of 6.4 magnitude, hit the European nation at an approximate depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles) early Tuesday local time, according to the United States Geological Survey.The epicenter was in the port city of Durres, about 13 miles from the capital Tirana. Social media videos from the area show several buildings have collapsed.Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's office revised the death toll upwards several times on Tuesday. At least four victims died in Durres, a spokesperson for Rama told CNN. Beavers have been gnawing away at one of the towns parks in South Windsor, Connecticut.The animals have left the people divided. Some of them are very upset after learning the animals were trapped and possibly killed.As much as people didn’t want these beavers to be hurt, town officials say the beavers were causing too much damage to the park. Beavers are known to chew up trees and build dams on the water, which was happening at South Windsor’s Nevers Road Park.“They’ve been cutting down a lot of trees and I can understand because they’re very destructive,” said Yvette Smith of South Windsor.Homeowners by the water worried about potential flooding along Lake Avenue.Trees were ruined and on the brink of falling over on the trail that’s closed for repairs.But the animals also grew a fair share of supporters.“We need to learn how to coexist. We have wonderful wildlife we have to consider and if there were better options I at least would’ve liked them at least explored,” said Carrie Morse of South Windsor.“(My daughter) was texting me while I was at the meeting. ‘Mom, please do what you can to save those beavers,’ so it was a rough discussion this morning before she went to school when she found out they were no longer there,” said Carrie Morse.On Tuesday afternoon, the town manager says if the beavers were trapped and killed, it ultimately happened through the state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection agency.“No matter what we do we’re in trouble. But when she applied to her preferred schools, the University of Southern California and UCLA, she wasn't accepted.The rejections left her so upset she had an emotional breakdown and needed to be hospitalized in Boston.Fidelak and her mother, Keri, are now among a group of seven students and parents who filed a federal lawsuit seeking class-action status against USC, UCLA and other colleges named in the sprawling admissions scandal, saying their admissions process was "warped and rigged by fraud."The plaintiffs allege in part negligence, unfair competition and violations of consumer law, according to an amended lawsuit filed Thursday in US District Court for the Northern District of California.Fidelak, now a student at Tulane University, is joined in the lawsuit by Stanford student Kalea Woods; community college student Tyler Bendis and his mother, Julia; and Rutgers student Nicholas James Johnson and his father, James.The students and parents in the lawsuit said they spent money to apply to schools named in the college admissions scandal, and attorneys say they wouldn't have applied had they known about the alleged scheme."Had Plaintiffs known that the system was warped and rigged by fraud, they would not have spent the money to apply to the school," the lawsuit states.
