The 5-year-old boy who was tossed off a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America in Minnesota in April is now back at home.An update on the family-run GoFundMe account says the boy -- who fell from nearly 40 feet -- completed his inpatient rehabilitation and will now enter "the next phase of recovery.""(This) includes continued outpatient rehabilitation for multiple injuries and adjusting to life back at home and school," the update read.The boy, who has not been publicly identified, was outside a café with his mother when 24-year-old Emmanuel Aranda came close to them, picked up the child and threw him over the railing.Aranda told police he had come to the mall a day earlier intending to kill an adult, but that did not "work out," according to the criminal complaint. He returned a day later and chose the child.Aranda pleaded guilty in May to attempted premediated first-degree murder and was sentenced to 19 years in prison.The young boy was in critical condition after the April 12 incident and spent months in intensive care before moving to rehab."Thank you to all who prayed for us and loved us during the past 4 1/2 months," his family wrote this week. The family of a man who contracted COVID-19 on the Grand Princess and later died is suing Princess and Carnival Cruises, saying the companies should have known passengers on board were sick and should not have accepted more passengers.64-year-old Ronald Wong and his wife boarded the Grand Princess in March in San Francisco, Mexico. A month later, Wong died in a California hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.Wong's wife also contracted the virus, but later recovered.In the lawsuit, Wong's family claims the cruise line and its parent company should have known a passenger on the ship's previous voyage had tested positive for COVID-19.After reports emerged that several passengers had contracted the virus, the Grand Princess docked at the Port of Oakland on March 9. A total of 131 people aboard the ship tested positive for the coronavirus, and five later died. The lawsuit filed by Wong's family is one of roughly a dozen filed by passengers on the Grand Princess and their families.A spokesperson for Princess Cruises said the company does not comment on pending litigation. 1106

The once mighty brands of Sears and Kmart are continuing to slowly disappear as Sears announced on Thursday the closure of 96 additional stores. The 96 locations, which are a mixture of Kmart and Sears branded stores, are set to close by February. The closing locations will have going out of business sales starting on Dec. 2. The footprint of Sears and Kmart will further shrink by one third with this round of closures, leaving fewer than 200 total locations nationally between the two brands. This announcement comes less than a year after more than 200 Sears and Kmart locations closed. While other retailers in recent years, such as Toys 'R' Us and RadioShack have faded away, Sears' demise would mark the end of an industry titan. The company was at one time the nation's largest retailer, selling items as small as earrings, to as big as houses. The announcement does not impact the nearly 400 locations that operate as Sears Hometown or Sears Outlet locations, which feature appliances and electronics.
