It's likely that a Sacramento sheriff's deputy who struck a protester with a patrol SUV Saturday night didn't realize he had hit someone, Sheriff Scott Jones said during a press conference Monday.The patrol SUV struck a woman as she and others gathered in the street to denounce the killing of Stephon Clark, then left the scene, according to video of the incident. The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department."I haven't spoken to the officer about the incident, I'm not even sure that his statement has been taken," Jones said, adding that there has been no change to the deputy's duties at this point during this investigation. "It's an unfortunate event that punctuated an otherwise fantastic evening." 788

INDIANAPOLIS — A member of Congress has introduced a bill taking aim at protesters. The "Support Peaceful Protest Act," introduced by Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, would ban protesters convicted on crimes such as violence, looting, or vandalism from federal unemployment assistance. It was introduced on August 28, following several nights of demonstrations in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Protesters would also be held financially liable for the cost of federal policing.In a press release, Banks said:"Antifa thugs are descending on suffering communities, disrupting peaceful protests and leaving violence, looting and vandalism in their wake. They turned Milwaukee, Seattle and Portland into warzones, and now they're moving the chaos to Kenosha, Wisconsin. Who knows which community is next?"The bill is not expected to move in Congress. While the 0 federal boost to unemployment ended in July, some states, including Indiana, have opted in to an extra 0 in federal assistance. Incredible video captured by researchers at Florida Atlantic University captured the blacktip shark's annual migration off Florida’s southeast coast.FAU researchers refer to the blacktip shark's as the "snowbirds of the sea". The sharks migrate south during the cold months and head up north when the weather, and water, start to warm back up. They leave the north when water temperatures drop below 71 degrees Fahrenheit and start heading south.The video was taken by FAU researchers on February 27, right off MacArthur Park in Singer Island.“Last year, we saw a dramatic decline in the number of blacktip sharks that migrated south. In fact, it was so low that we estimated the population to be about one-third of what we have seen in previous years,” said Kajiura, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and director of the Elasmobranch Research Laboratory in FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. “We want to make sure that these snowbirds come back to South Florida, because if they don’t, it will have a huge ecological impact in this region.”  According to researchers, this year's video off of  MacArthur Park in Singer Island shows dramatically fewer blacktip sharks during migration season as compared to video footage from previous years.       Mary Stringini is a Digital Reporter for ABC Action News. Is there something you wish had never been invented?For a second-grader in Louisiana, it's their mother's cell phone.The student's teacher, Jen Adams Beason, posted this comment on her Facebook page, along with the child's essay.In that post, Beason revealed that four of her 21 students also said they wished cell phones had never been invented.In the essay, the student wrote, "I would say that I don't like the phone," capping off the work with a drawing of a cell phone with an "x" through it and a sad face saying, "I hate it." The image was posted on May 18 and has since been shared more than 207,000 times.As you can imagine, it's generating a strong response online."Wow.
