BALTIMORE, Maryland — A man running away from the Baltimore Police died after being hit by a car last week.Officers were conducting a narcotics investigation in the 2700 block of Greenmount Avenue around 8:30 p.m. March 28. When they tried to talk to 21-year-old Larry Whitfield during the investigation, he immediately started to run away. Whitfield was able to escape officers and tried to cross Greenmount Avenue when he was hit by a car traveling southbound. He was transported to a hospital where he died Friday morning. The driver of the car was not injured and stayed on the scene after the crash. Detectives are working with the narcotics unit to evaluate all the evidence from the scene. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.  785

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Moments after a major with the Boynton Beach, Fla. Police Department was pulled over for speeding, he decided to return the gesture by pulling over the same officer who had just let him off with a warning.The entire exchange was caught on dash and body camera video and was released to the media after 13 months of asking for the records.According to the video, Major Michael Johnson was pulled over by Officer Mark Sohn for allegedly driving 97 mph in a 65 mph zone in Interstate 95, while off-duty in September 2017. BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. (KGTV) - California State Parks are preparing for wildflower blooms across the state. The unpredictable and rare occurrences attract thousands of people to the parks. Some of the most beautiful blooms take place in desert landscapes. These rare blooms occur when precipitation levels in the areas are high, combined with years-long drought that eliminate grasses and weeds that take up nutrients. These conditions cause wildflowers to thrive. McCamish says during the 2017 'super bloom' word of the beauty spread fast on social media, drawing in 6,000 to 7,000 cars a day.He says the rush of visitors overwhelmed the small town of Borrego Springs but that this year they're more prepared. BOSTONIA (CNS) - A shooting at a marijuana dispensary near El Cajon left one person wounded Friday.The gunfire in the 1600 block of North Second Street in the unincorporated Bostonia community was reported shortly after 12 p.m., according to sheriff's officials.Following the shooting, the victim, believed to be about 16 years old, was driven out of the area and dropped off at a gas station about a mile to the south, Lt. Pat McEvoy said.Paramedics took the wounded youth, whose exact age and gender were not immediately available, to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of wounds of undisclosed severity.Deputies took several people into custody at the dispensary for questioning and searched the area for the shooter by ground and aboard a patrol helicopter, McEvoy said. A deal was reached among Congressional leaders Sunday evening, who worked through the weekend to smooth over differences, after months of tense negotiations.The vote passed the House by a 359-53 margin. Several hours later, the measure was approved by the US Senate by a 91-7 margin. The bill now goes to President Donald Trump for his approval. The bill included 0-a-week in supplemental jobless benefits, direct payments of 0 for individuals, more than 0 billion in small business loans and more than billion for schools, as well as billions for help with vaccine distribution.The relief bill is not expected to have money for state and local government aid, something Democrats had been pushing for as municipalities experience sharp declines in tax revenues.However, the measure would extend the deadline for using CARES Act funding from earlier this year.
