A woman was accused of hiding stolen items inside her shirt at a North Carolina Staples last week, prompting the manager to call for a police officer only to find out the woman is pregnant with twins, WSOC-TV reported. According to WSOC's report, Sherell Bates was shopping for back to school items at a Staples office supplies retailer in Pineville, N.C. She told WSOC that during her transaction at the register, an officer approached to see what was under her shirt. "Initially, I thought he was joking, so my response was, 'Twins,’” Bates said. “I'm 34 weeks with twins. I'm having a boy and a girl." The officer didn't buy the story. "At that point, to avoid him asking me again, I actually lifted my shirt just a little bit, just to expose my belly, so he could see that I'm just a regular pregnant person buying school supplies,” Bates told WSOC.Bates said that when confronted, the manager admitted that they asked the officer to investigate her. Bates said she hopes that Staples will provide sensitivity training to its employees. On Monday, Staples said it had fired the manager involved in the incident. The following statement was given by the company to WSOC: 1226

After a royal wedding unlike any seen before in Britain, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a suitably unconventional choice of vehicle in which to travel to their evening reception.Prince Harry drove his new bride, wearing a Stella McCartney dress, from Windsor Castle to nearby Frogmore House in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type, originally built in 1968 but recently converted to electric power. Its number plate bore the date of Saturday's wedding - E190518.Jaguar launched the service to restore and convert existing E-Types to electric power -- the ultimate in upcycling -- last year as Concept Zero, but with a cost of at least 0,000 you'll need a king's ransom to afford it.The green supercar driven by Prince Harry is based on a Series 1.5 E-Type, once described by Enzo Ferrari as "the most beautiful car in the world," with its original gas-guzzling 3.8-liter XK engine replaced by a 295-horsepower electric motor. The Concept Zero offers the same electrifying performance as a petrol-powered E-Type, one of the world's fastest production cars when it was launched in 1961. A top speed of 150mph is claimed for the electric car along with a 0-60mph time of 5.5 seconds and a range of 170 miles. The vehicles are re-engineered in Coventry in the West Midlands by Jaguar Land Rover Classic, the heritage division of the British carmaker, now owned by India's Tata Motors. The Concept Zero was the brainchild of chief Tim Hannig, who told Autocar magazine?that while it may not appeal to every Jaguar purist, he hoped it would attract well-heeled buyers who desire classic motoring "without the oil leaks." 1629

Air pollution could be more damaging to our health than previously thought, according to a new study, which found that prolonged exposure to dirty air has a significant impact on our cognitive abilities, especially in older men.According to the study published Tuesday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, breathing polluted air causes a "steep reduction" in scores on verbal and math tests.Researchers at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) examined data from the national China Family Panel Studies longitudinal survey, mapping the cognitive test scores of nearly 32,000 people over the age of 10 between 2010 and 2014 against their exposure to short- and long-term air pollution. 730

AAA is expecting the great American road trip to make a big comeback this summer. If that’s how you plan to spend your vacation time amid the pandemic, think about COVID-19 when you pack. Bring face coverings, gloves, thermometers, and cleaning supplies.Don't just think about where you're heading, but where you are passing through. That way, you can avoid hot spots.Gas stations are open, but some rest stops, restaurants, and attractions may be closed or only allowing limited capacity.“A lot of places are requiring reservations,” said Jeanette Casselano, a spokesperson for AAA. “The last thing you want to do is get somewhere and you're not going to be allowed in, because you don't have that reservation, because you haven't called ahead, or you haven't done your research.”AAA also recommends you reach out to your hotel to learn of any new guidelines in place. You can use your cleaning supplies in your room.“Yes, they've been cleaned and they're extra protocols in place for sanitation,” said Casselano. “For peace of mind, wipe down those high traffic areas when you get into your room – light switches, faucets, lamps, and of course the remote control.”You can find help for planning road trips on AAA’s website. They also have a COVID-19 travel restriction map. 1281
