SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police say a man has died after an officer-involved shooting in the City Heights area on Thursday.SDPD officers responded to reports of a man with a gun in the 4200 block of Menlo Ave. at about 4 p.m., according to SDPD Lt. Matt Dobbs.Police say two women were driving in the area when they were confronted by a man with a handgun."The man manipulated the slide of the gun as if he were loading it and pointed the gun towards the women," according to a SDPD news release. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police searched Friday for a very tall man who robbed a Hillcrest bank with a semi-automatic handgun. The man walked into the California Bank and Trust at 3737 Fifth Avenue about 9:15 a.m., police said. Officers said the man demanded money from a teller who gave him cash, then he ran from the bank. A witness said the man dropped some of the money as he fled the area. No injuries were reported. Police said the man is black, 6’5” tall, and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a fisherman's hat, dark sunglasses, a dark colored hoodie, and khaki pants. Experts say the longer the vessels stay, the harder it is for the cruise industry to bounce back.The Holland America Koningsdam returned to the Port of San Diego Wednesday morning. It is one of five cruise ships scheduled to dock at the Embarcadero for fuel and supplies. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego’s boating community is stepping up to help a family who lost their floating home in a fire. The boat, Both/And World, caught fire while docked at the Shelter Island Marina Saturday just before 3 p.m. "I was just merely walking off of the boat and saw the smoke, thought it was a barbecue then the kids started screaming on the dock and saw the black smoke and knew it was time to react,” said witness Charlie Colson. The man who lived on the boat with his family grabbed a small hose and tried to put out the flames, Colson said. People on shore grabbed a larger hose and had most of the flames knocked down by the time firefighters arrived. Colson said the family, which includes the man’s wife and 6-year-old son with special needs, had just moved on to the boat last week. The only salvageable items were the boy’s stuffed Donald Duck and his iPad. According to Colson, the flames were sparked by a lithium battery on a charger. Investigators have yet to release the official cause of the fire. “It’s gonna change their plans for a little but it’ll all work out,” said Colson. “The lucky part: no one was hurt; no other boats damaged; family’s okay, other than being rattled.” Colson believes the boat is a total loss.
