CLEVLAND, Ohio — The FBI is investigating civil rights issues inside the Cuyahoga County jail according to a damning report detailing serious problems inside the jail.The details of the incident involving the use of force as a punishment, as well as the FBI's involvement were blacked-out in a version of the report released by Cuyahoga County on Wednesday.However, a complete version obtained by WEWS television station investigators confirm "this particular UOF incident was turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cleveland...for further investigation."According to the report, prepared by the US Marshals at the request of county leaders, the Facility Review Team confirmed use of force is used as punishment inside the jail.The report also noted more than 100 interviews with inmates and detainees "reveal strong and consistent allegation of brutality, UOF punishment, and cruel treatment at the hands of the Security Response Team (SRT), whom the detainee/inmates refer to as "The Men in Black" based on their black para-military uniforms."Inspectors also noted that body cam video revealed "aggressive conduct and behavior as well as abusive, explicit language used by SRT members direct at detainees/inmates."US Marshal Pete Elliott confirmed that both the FBI and Cuyahoga County's Inspector General are conducting investigations into civil rights issues inside the jail.Since late June, at least six inmates have died at the jail. Inspectors noted the jail failed to conduct reviews of the deaths and cited "insufficient and unclear answers" regarding the deaths.The report also found there have been 55 suicide attempts at the jail in the last 12 months.Cuyahoga County leaders have pledged improvements at the facility and say some changes have already been put in place. 1818

Consumers are going to have to wait a little longer to shop the Toys "R" Us liquidation sales.The company had said it expected the sales to start Thursday. But there's been a delay, a company spokesperson told CNNMoney Thursday morning. It now expects sales to likely start Friday.The iconic toy giant announced last week that it will shut or sell all of its 735 US stores.Shoppers looking to snag a bargain should act fast when the sales start."It will be quick," said Chuck Tatelbaum, a director with Tripp Scott, a Florida law firm, on how quickly the shelves will empty. "No more than 60 days, closer to 30 days."The more popular and favorite toys tend to move the fastest, and inventory is likely already slim."The [stores] haven't gotten a lot of new inventory in the last month or two, so a lot of the popular things have probably already sold out," said Tatelbaum.Consumers with Toys "R" Us gift cards and Endless Earnings e-gift cards should also hurry. The retailer will honor these forms of payment until April 20. Stores will no longer accept coupons or other rewards.Stores will accept returns on products purchased before the liquidation for the next 30 days. All purchases made after liquidation sales begin are final, which means they cannot be returned or exchanged.Consumers planning on going to the store for one last walk up and down the aisles to reminisce could face a different reality."People will go for one last time, but I am not sure it will translate into buying," said Tatelbaum. Country star Jason Aldean was performing when a gunman began firing on the crowd from inside Mandalay Bay. Now, Aldean is opening up about how he's been coping since the tragedy of Oct. 1, 2017.  "I think you go through a lot of different emotions of being thankful that none of your family and friends was injured. And then you feel guilty," said Aldean. "Those people are there to see your show so that's awful."Since that dreadful night in October, Aldean has struggled with the complexity of his feelings about surviving the country's deadliest mass shooting in modern history.  "And then you start doing that thing, like, 'Man, did that really happen. Did that really happen to us?' It seems so crazy. Like how could that even be a thing?"Aldean said his wife and crew were a great comfort to him, but it was visiting the injured in the hospital and the birth of his son that put things in perspective. "That helped. Going back to the hospital, going back to Vegas and seeing those people. Seeing some of the strength they were having," said Aldean. " People laid up in the hospital and smiling and laughing and just being glad they were alive."His son was born exactly two months after the Las Vegas shooting."Really to me, he just gave me something else to focus on. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) — Thousands of sailors left Naval Air Base Coronado Friday afternoon, to embark on a seven-month deployment to the Indo-Pacific Region. Its colossal presence is intimidating. Impressive. Indisputable.“We comprise the most mobile, most capable, and most lethal fighting force on the entire planet,” Captain Brett Crozier, Commanding Officer of the USS Theodore Roosevelt, said. But the strength of the ship isn’t in the hardware. It’s in the 6,000 sailors who will call it home for the next seven months. Friday is their farewell to their families. “Already I’ve been crying like all day,” Stephanie Hastings said. The young mother of two is saying goodbye to her husband, Christopher, for the first time. This is the 26-year-old’s first deployment. Emotions overcome her, even though her toddlers do not understand. “He [three-year-old Mason] doesn’t really know what’s going on. He said he wants to go to Target today. He doesn’t want to come here,” Hastings laughed. But long-time military wife Fama Nyassi has no tears. She and her two daughters are sending off their father, Ousom, for the fifth time. “Daddy is not around, but Mommy is here. I will take care of everything!” Nyassi said. For the next seven months, the sailors will travel to the Indo-Pacific region to provide maritime security and regional safety. For EMC Nyassi, it’s comforting to know that his wife has got his back at home. “I can’t thank her enough. She’s the rock of the family. I can’t thank her enough,” EMC Nyassi said. Those left behind say their strength comes from their love for their spouse and for their country. “I tell him all the time that I am really proud,” Hastings said of her husband. “So proud of him. He’s the hero of the family,” Nyassi said of her husband. The last time the USS Roosevelt left for a seven-month deployment was to support “Operations Inherent Resolve” and “Freedom’s Sentinel” between October 2017 and May 2018. Cooled to negative 320 degrees, using liquid nitrogen cooled food has become a trendy and cool way of eating. But eating products so cold comes with risks. On Thursday, the FDA issued a warning for foods cooled by liquid nitrogen. The FDA says consuming products marketed as "Dragon’s Breath," "Heaven’s Breath," "nitro puff," among others could cause serious injury. Liquid nitrogen quickly freezes food, but even after the liquid has completely boiled into a gas, the extreme cold of the food and the displacement of oxygen could cause health concerns. "The FDA has become aware of severe -- and in some cases, life-threatening -- injuries, such as damage to skin and internal organs caused by liquid nitrogen still present in the food or drink," the FDA said in a statement. "There has also been a report of difficulty breathing after inhaling the vapor released by liquid nitrogen when added immediately before consumption. Injuries have occurred from handling or eating products prepared by adding liquid nitrogen immediately before consumption, even after the liquid nitrogen has fully evaporated due to the extremely low temperature of the food."The FDA's warning does not extend to all foods cooled by liquid nitrogen. "Other foods treated with liquid nitrogen prior to the point of sale and before consumption, for example some frozen confections, are treated in such a way that results in the complete evaporation of liquid nitrogen before reaching the consumer and are no longer at an extremely low temperature, and therefore do not pose a significant risk of injury," the FDA says. 1646
