IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) — A suspected drunk driver nearly hit several beach-goers Sunday, before his SUV ended up in the ocean.The driver, identified as 50-year-old Jorge Mosti, was driving in the 1600 block of Seacoast Dr. just after 6:30 p.m., when witnesses say his SUV left the roadway and onto the beach, according to San Diego Sheriff's Department.As he continued onto the beach, SDSO said Mosti nearly hit several people as he drove about a mile down the beach. His vehicle ended came to a stop partially submerged on IB's coastline.Mosti reportedly then jumped out of the vehicle and started walking toward Tijuana. He made it about half a mile before deputies caught up to him. Deputies said Mosti was holding an open beer can as they took him into custody.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodImperial Beach Lifeguards also responded to help pull the SUV from the water.Witnesses at the beach identified Mosti in a curbside lineup, SDSO said, and he was arrested on charges of reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. 1091

Hoverboards are once again the target for recalls, as the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued recalls Tuesday on seven models for potential fire hazard. According to the CPSC, the seven recalled hoverboard models have lithium-ion battery packs that can overheat, posing a risk of smoking, catching fire and/or exploding.Nearly 13,000 units are covered by Tuesday's recall. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested 115 San Diego and Imperial County, California residents in a three-day sting targeting federal immigration law violators, officials said Friday.Among the group were 50 convicted criminals and seven people who re-entered the United States after being deported. All but seven of the arrests took place in San Diego County, according to ICE.Those arrested include a Center Street Locos Gang member in Oceanside who had been deported four previous times. He had multiple criminal convictions including grand theft, controlled substance for sale, and driving under the influence.A Kazakhstan citizen wanted by authorities in that country on charges of tax evasion and embezzlement was taken into custody in Oceanside. Interpol had issued a ‘Red Notice’ arrest warrant for him in November.Another high-profile arrest included a Mexican citizen who had served a federal prison term in 2009 after being convicted of illegal re-entry after deportation.  Officials said he had three criminal convictions for spousal abuse and had previously been removed from the U.S. to Mexico on ten prior occasions.  RELATED: ICE arrests 150 in Northern California, blasts Oakland mayor over warningAn immigrant who illegally reenters the United States after having been previously removed faces a felony prison term of up to 20 years, according to ICE. Four of the people arrested in the sting will face federal criminal prosecution for illegal re-entry after deportation. Those who are not facing federal charges may be immediately removed from the United States.“This week’s operation targeted public safety threats, such as convicted criminal aliens, individuals with final orders of removal, those who illegally re-entered the country after being removed, and individuals who have otherwise violated our nation’s immigration law,” said Greg Archambeault, field office director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in San Diego. The three-day sting comes after a report in the Los Angeles Times indicating more immigrants with no criminal history were arrested by San Diego's Immigration and Customs Enforcement from October to December 2017 than anywhere else in the country. But if you look hard enough - something else is trying to take over.Limebike is a tech company that deals in two wheels.It's been a busy week for Colin McMahon, a manager at Limebike."On Friday we started rolling them out through all the weekend and now we are up to 200 bikes through operations," McMahon said.Limebike's mobile app is launching in Imperial Beach, its eighth city."A lot of curiosity so almost every time we brought a bike out of the truck people were asking what is this bike how does it work," McMahon said.Riders download the app, enter their credit card number and scan the back of the bike they want to ride.Even 4th grader, Jacquin Hallaway, can figure it out."I think it's fun that you can like rent a bike," Hallaway said.Unfortunately, not everyone has been behaving with the bikes.Someone in Seattle stuck one on a power pole but don't count out San Diego's shenanigans."There was one that was thrown off the pier.
