TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey has become the first state in the nation to incorporate climate change education across its K-12 learning standards. The state’s first lady, Tammy Murphy, announced Wednesday that the state’s board of education has adopted her initiative. With this adoption, climate change education will be incorporated across seven content areas—21st century life and careers, comprehensive health and physical education, science, social studies, technology, visual and performing arts, and world languages. Climate change standards have also been added to the appendices of the mathematics and English language arts guidelines, which are up for review in 2022.“In New Jersey, we have already begun to experience the effects of climate change, from our disappearing shorelines, to harmful algal blooms in our lakes, super storms producing torrential rain, and summers that are blazing hot,” said first lady Murphy. “The adoption of these standards is much more than an added educational requirement; it is a symbol of a partnership between generations. The letter also says that the group will help employees transition into new positions. An earlier report said that B&B was "actively negotiating" to buy out the celebrity chef.Batali stepped down from daily operations of his restaurant empire and his cooking show after the allegations surfaced in December. Thomas Magnum has lost his sidekick. John Hillerman, the actor who played Magnum P.I. sidekick Jonathan Higgins, died on Thursday at the age of 84. According to TMZ, he died at his home in Houston. The cause of his death is unknown. Hillerman's portrayal of Higgins was plotted as a foil for the title character in Magnum P.I., which ran for eight seasons on CBS. Hillerman won an Emmy Award in 1987 for his performance. Besides his role on Magnum P.I., Hillerman appeared in nearly two dozen feature films, and even more television shows.
