(CNS) - Driven by howling winds and dangerously low humidity, a brush fire that began in Ventura County but raced over the Los Angeles County line continued a relentless march toward the Pacific Ocean Friday, forcing thousands of people from their homes as evacuation orders were imposed for the entirety of Malibu. The Woolsey Fire exploded to more than 10,000 acres overnight, then was estimated at 14,000 by midday Friday, with zero containment. Driven by 50- to 60-mph winds, the flames jumped the south across the Ventura (101) Freeway in the Liberty Canyon area early Friday. The flames devoured homes as it continued to chew through brush, but there was no immediate word on how many structures had been affected. By early Friday, authorities indicated there had been significant property losses. Fire crews in one area of Malibu alone reported as many as 30 homes being consumed by flames, with the blaze advancing on dozens of others. There were sporadic reports of people being unable to escape burning homes in remote areas, but as of mid-morning Friday, there had been no reports of any injuries to firefighters or residents. Evacuation orders were imposed overnight affecting tens of thousands of residents in both counties, and at 10 a.m. Friday, mandatory evacuation orders were expanded to include the entire city of Malibu. And a large animal evacuation center was established at the Zuma Beach parking lot in Malibu. Early Friday, the whipping winds prevented fire commanders from ordering aerial assaults in the early morning hours, but some flights began at 5:30 a.m. as the wind died down. But winds quickly began picking up again as dawn broke. High winds were expected to continue until 10 p.m., when a red flag warning of heightened wildfire conditions is scheduled to expire. Fire authorities estimated Friday morning that at least 75,000 homes in Los Angeles and Ventura counties were under evacuation orders, but with the orders spreading along with the flames, thousands more were likely affected. Heavy smoke and strong winds hampered visibility for crews on the fire lines and residents trying to evacuate fire zones. The fire prompted the closure of all schools in the Las Virgenes Unified School District in Calabasas, as well as Viewpoint School, Montessori of Calabasas, Montessori of Calabasas Too and Muse School. Michael Avenatti's week is off to a bad start, at least in court.On Monday, a California judge hit Avenatti with a .85 million judgment for failure to pay the debt owed to his former Newport Beach law partner, a court representative told CNN.The order stems from an agreement that allowed Avenatti's law firm, Eagan Avenatti, out of bankruptcy in 2017. As part of the agreement, Eagan Avenatti LLP agreed to a settlement with his former non-equity partner Jason Frank's law firm and the IRS.The firm agreed it would pay .85 million in two installments. If a payment was missed, that amount would balloon to million.Eagan Avenatti LLP failed to make the first payment and found itself in default, which put Avenatti himself in a financial pickle.Avenatti, who has become a household name as porn star Stormy Daniels' hard-hitting attorney in her case against President Donald Trump, had personally guaranteed the payment of .85 million -- meaning he was on the hook if his firm didn't pay. When Jason Frank Law PLC was not paid, he sued in federal and state court, and Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Dennis Landin ruled in favor of him on Monday.Frank's attorney Eric George told CNN that Avenatti had attempted to delay the case by trying to get it moved to federal court, but failed in his effort."He thought he could gum up the works and file something last minute and the state court would throw up his hands. Marriott International says a guest reservation database has been breached and may have exposed information of approximately 500 million guests.The company says it is investigating and addressing the incident that involves the Starwood guest reservation database. They received an alert on Sept. 8 from an internal security tool regarding an attempt to access the Starwood guest reservation database. Marriott quickly called on security experts to help figure out what happened.Security experts learned there had been unauthorized access to the Starwood network since 2014. On Nov. 19, Marriott was able to decrypt the information and determined that the contents were from the Starwood guest reservation database.For approximately 327 million guests affected by the breach, the information accessed includes some combination of name, mailing address, phone number, email address, passport number, Starwood Preferred Guest account information, date of birth, gender, arrival and departure information, reservation date, and communication preferences.Marriott says they have established a dedicated call center (USA: 877-273-9481) to answer questions guests may have about the breach.
