SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The man accused of killing his parents and sister in a Logan Heights house fire pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday. Wilber Romero, 26, is facing charges that include first-degree murder and arson in the October 13 blaze. The fire started around 4:30 a.m. on the 3100 block of Clay Street. 44-year-old Jose Romero died at the scene while his wife and daughter, Nicolasa Maya-Romero, 46, and Iris Romero, 21, died at the hospital in the days following the blaze.The family’s 23-year-old daughter remains hospitalized. A 16-year-old son, who was injured when he escaped out a window, was released following treatment. Wilber is being held on million bail and faces life in prison if convicted. Court documents show the fire wasn’t the first time he allegedly targeted his family. Wilber reportedly attacked his father with a brick and rocks and damaged his car in September of 2018.The incident prompted a police standoff that ended when police shot bean bags at Wilber and released a police dog, documents show.The documents go on to state Wilber was in a car accident when he was 6-years-old and that he has suffered from a learning disability since the crash.According to the documents, Wilber also struggled with drug addiction. 1461

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The City of San Diego said Friday Lime Bike, Bird, Skip Scooters and Lyft had violated its terms of operation in regards to geofencing and other scooter operating restrictions. Geofencing forces riders to slow down to 8 miles per hour in busy areas “like Balboa Park and our boardwalks,” San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer wrote on Twitter. Bird had violations in nine different San Diego locations on July 13 and 14. Lyft and Lime Bike had violations in seven areas during that time, city officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an emergency injunction for a Chula Vista church to hold Christmas Day services indoors.South Bay United Pentecostal Church, which has had legal challenges denied over California's COVID-19 restrictions against places of worship holding indoor services, requested the injunction while its appeals case works its way through the courts.Thursday, the Ninth Circuit denied the request but the case will see a full hearing on the merits on January 15, 2021.RELATED: Los Angeles County change on indoor religious services could impact South Bay lawsuit"We are extremely disappointed that the Ninth Circuit has yanked the joy of Christmas away from South Bay United Pentecostal Church and its congregants," Charles LiMandri, one of the attorneys representing the church, said in a statement.LiMandri said they will request that the U.S. Supreme Court intervene in the case. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The FBI is asking for the public’s help identifying the man who reportedly robbed a San Diego bank. According to the agency, the man robbed a U.S. Bank located inside a Vons grocery store at 665 Saturn Boulevard. The suspect reportedly approached the teller and made a verbal demand for cash, telling the employee he had a gun. The man made off with an unspecified amount of cash. Pictures show the man wearing a hooded Padres sweatshirt and mirrored sunglasses. He is described as a white or possibly Middle Eastern man in his late 20s or early 30s.
