Banking since COVID-19 has taken on a different form. From wearing a mask to not being able to talk with a teller, several changes have been implemented in recent months. At Michigan Legacy Credit Union, a cashless transaction requiring the help of a teller can now be handled from home, from the mall, or by the lake. They launched the virtual teller app in early July."As long as you don't need a cash transaction, you can open up a membership, you can apply for a loan or a mortgage," Teller Michael Castano said. "There's so many different member service opportunities you can have just from the comfort of your home.""Only 7 percent of our transactions are done by members in our lobby with a teller. Everything else is electronic format," CEO Carma Peters added.Peters said declining transactions in brick-and-mortar branches has fueled the credit unions to push to mobile banking, and since COVID-19, there's been a massive increase in mobile banking."We let members call us, text us, chat us, use our mobile website. Our mobile logins went up in the month of April by 50,000," Peters said. She said the plan was to equip branches with virtual tellers before launching the app. That comes next.Banking in-person has also taken on a different look. Wearing a mask during a visit prior to COVID-19 might raise suspicion. Now, it's encouraged at all credit unions. For banks that remain open, the American Banking Association has also called on all banks to adopt a face mask policy. This story was first reported by WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan. 1551

BOSTON (AP) — The story of Buddy the Elf meeting his biological father has come to life, just in time for the holidays.Doug Henning of Eliot, Maine, wore a costume to look like Will Ferrell in the movie “Elf” while meeting his father face to face for the first time last week at Logan Airport in Boston. He even broke into the same awkward song from the movie. Henning told Boston.com that his biological father “probably thought I was a lunatic.”The dad didn’t get the joke because he hadn’t seen the movie, but that didn’t stop him from giving his son a big hug while other family members laughed and cheered.Henning said the family eventually did sit down and watch the movie together as a family.Henning told Boston.com that he grew up with amazing adoptive parents, but he wanted to know more about his heritage, so he used Ancestry.com. Through the website, he connected with a cousin who helped him connect with his biological dad, who says he didn’t know he had a son. When getting to know each other, the biological father and son realized they both work in TV. Henning is a camera operator, and his dad is a sound mixer. Now, they’re trying to figure out if they’ve ever crossed paths. 1201

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo police lieutenant has been suspended, and the department has launched an investigation after video shows the lieutenant calling a bystander a "disrespectful little f***ing c****."Lt. Michael Delong has been suspended without pay, and Commissioner Byron Lockwood has ordered an immediate investigation after a video of Delong's comments surfaced on social media on Monday. The video, recorded and shared on Twitter by user @ruweyda_salim, shows a handful of officers in a 7-Eleven parking lot. The woman recording the video counted 10 officers on hand to arrest the man, who she said was "on drugs."Delong claimed police responded because the man was "violent" and was holding a weight in his hand that could be used as a weapon. The woman who shared the video denies the police's claim that the man was dangerous or holding a weapon, and told Delong that she "wasn't going to go near him.""Mhmm. You're a disrespectful little f***ing c***, that's what you are," Delong said in response.Online records show Delong made over 0,000 in 2018 and more than ,000 last year. You can watch the full video below. BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — Two days after being hospitalized with COVID-19, President Donald Trump declared, “I get it,” in a message to the nation. 151

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) — The Trump administration has removed gray wolves in most of the U.S. from the endangered species list. Thursday’s action ends longstanding federal safeguards for the predators in the Lower 48 states, except for a small population of Mexican gray wolves in the Southwest. The announcement just days ahead of the election could allow hunting of the animals to resume in Great Lakes states -- a battleground region in the presidential race between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. Gray wolves have recovered from near extinction in parts of the country but remain absent from much of their historical range. Biologists who reviewed the administration’s plan to strip protection from wolves say it lacked scientific justification. 787
