SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — There have been 137 community outbreaks reported in San Diego County since June 1, according to San Diego County health officials.Since March 25, the county has reported 164 community outbreaks that have resulted in 1,220 coronavirus cases:March: 3April: 16May: 8June: 34July: 93August: 10County officials broke those numbers down from June 1, 2020, to Aug. 4, 2020, where the majority of community outbreaks have been reported at restaurant/bar and business settings. See the data below:The county adds that community outbreaks between June and August from business, restaurant, and restaurant/bar settings have resulted in a total of 212 cases in June, 508 cases in July, and 48 cases in August.On Wednesday, the county reported 30 community outbreaks, much high than the county's trigger of seven in a week.Even though a restaurant or restaurant/bar is linked to a community outbreak, County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten says that doesn't mean a business is failing to adhere to public health orders.RELATED: San Diego County Board approves plan to allow businesses to operate at county parks"It may not mean there's anything going on wrong at the restaurant or at the restaurant/bar," Wooten said. "Most of our outbreaks we do deploy an assessment team and if they are restaurants, the Department of Environmental Health has taken that role until, as of Tuesday, when that will now be under the (county) compliance program."Wooten said investigators visit a reported business and make sure they are adhering to signage, social distancing, face covering, and sanitation measures.The county has said in the past it doesn't name locations where a community outbreak was traced to in order to encourage businesses to cooperate with COVID-19 case contact tracers. 1799

The first three games he sat on the bench and then in a game against the San Diego Chargers, he took his first knee during the National Anthem. On Wednesday, Kaepernick recognized the three year anniversary by taking to his Twitter account saying, “Today marks the three year anniversary of the first time I protested systemic oppression. I continue to work and stand with the people in our fight for liberation.” In October 2017, Kaepernick filed a Collusion Grievance against the NFL and team owners In February 2018, they settled the case. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is preparing for the possibility of big demonstrations on and around Election Day. "We don't have any credible information to say that there's going to be civil unrest or large protests groups out on Election Day or soon thereafter on Election Day. However, we have been in contact with other cities throughout the United States. We've been in contact with our federal partners throughout the United States. We're preparing for possible unrest to occur on Election Day and afterward," said SDPD Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.SDPD will not reveal exact staffing levels but said that officers will be ready to handle the calls. Lt. Takeuchi added that SDPD has nine stations throughout the city and it’s up to each station's captain to determine appropriate staffing levels for the election. He said that officers are mindful of concerns surrounding the ballots and the pandemic. “As humans, when you don't know your future, I think it brings out a little bit of anxiety and so I think that we are aware of that and the emotions,” Takeuchi added.Sean Eldridge, with Protect the Results, told ABC10 News his group is focused in part on preparing several upcoming rallies in San Diego and beyond.“Part of our work at Protect the Results is to encourage every American to be patient and realize that it could take days if not longer before we know the full count of this election,” said Eldridge. "We have nearly 400 pre-planned events across the country which could happen as early as the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 4, the day after Election Day, if Trump were to try to undermine the election results.”Eldridge says that participants are being encouraged to remain peaceful.Lt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three prominent Democrats have filed papers with the City of San Diego declaring their intention to run for mayor in 2020. San Diego City Councilwoman Barbara Bry, Assemblyman Todd Gloria, and Congressman Scott Peters all submitted documents to the City Clerk, allowing them to fund raise for the 2020 primary on March 3. They would replace Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican, who is termed out in 2020. Bry formally announced her candidacy on Wednesday. She said her experience as a high tech entrepreneur and nonprofit leader give her a unique approach to tackling key city issues like cost of housing, homelessness, clean energy, and educating students for the jobs of tomorrow. "That will be very important for me to get my message out and to meet people and to learn about their issues."Peters, recently re-elected to the House of Representatives, was in Washington D.C. and unavailable for an interview. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Sweetwater Union High School District Board of Trustees on Thursday responded to a scathing audit that alleged evidence of fraud or misappropriation of funds leading to a multi-million dollar deficit.In their response to the audit, the district’s Board of Trustees acknowledged the importance of an independent state agency’s audit and said they “intend to cooperate fully with these agencies should they require additional information.”“We acknowledge that, as required, you notified the local district attorney, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and State Controller that the FCMAT AB 139 report found there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that fraud, misappropriation of funds, or other illegal fiscal activities may have occurred," the Board of Trustees said."We understand the importance of having these agencies review the report and intend to cooperate fully with these agencies should they require additional information," said the board.The 79-page audit, conducted by the independent state agency Fiscal Crisis Management Assistance Team (FCMAT), was made public June 22. According to the report, the district’s school board relied on inaccurate financial information when they approved salary increases for district employees, resulting in pay raises they could not afford.The audit also reportedly found the district kept borrowing from capital projects in the South Bay, such as Mello-Roos funds, to pay for operations without a method of repaying that money back into the fund.The board said that individuals and outside entities identified by FCMAT as having enough evidence to suggest they were engaged in illegal acts are "either no longer employed by the District or are removed from all involvement in the District’s current operations."RELATED: SUHSD: 90 bus drivers paid over 0K in overtime during 2017, database saysThe board also said that since the audit, they’ve taken other actions based on recommendations from the FCMAT, including:The district will be implementing the INFOR financial module in the 12 to 18 months. An anonymous hotline for reporting fraud will continue to be available internally and to the public.The District staff will ensure that the Board and County receive updates on the progress to address the recommendations set forth in this report.“As a Board and as acting superintendent, we are committed to ensuring we implement and improve our systems and supports to best serve our community and understand that this process starts with the superintendent and the Board,” said the board.The response was signed by current trustees Nicholas Segura, Board Vice President; Arturo Solis, Board Member; Paula Hall, Board Member; Kevin J. Since then, the district's budget crisis spiraled into teachers and programs being cut, bus routes eliminated, and increased class sizes. The board previously said its action against Janney is not disciplinary but it is to support and ensure an efficient investigation of the concerns raised in the FCMAT audit.With the release of the FCMAT audit, it will be up to the District Attorney, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and State Controller to determine if fraud did in fact occur within the Sweetwater District.The San Diego County District Attorney's office said they are reviewing the audit. There is also an investigation into the district by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
