SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The pandemic, protests, riots, there's a lot of stressors out there, but Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel has a few ways to find positivity."We have to go through those motions to be effective and to make sure that we can therefore get to a place where we can actually feel positive," Dr. Carcel said.She said cut out negativity, from social media to people you know, "there are so many things that we can feel terrible about right now and that's something we have to honor and we can also find that one moment in the day where we stopped and smelled the flowers."She said focus on the positives, find three things each day you are grateful for. Doing this each day trains your brain to look for the positives. She also said exercise and advocacy are two great ways to change your perspective."Advocacy, you know helping out, doing volunteer work. If you really feel passionate about what's going on right now you can advocate, you have a voice and your voice matters," Carcel said writing leaders is very important right now.Voices were raised across the U.S. at peaceful protests, creating positive change, interactions and dialogue this week after the tragic death of George Floyd."I'm really going to recommend if you have a friend or somebody of a different ethnicity or culture, engage in a productive conversation. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of SDG&E customers were left in the dark in Central San Diego, as an power outage hit late Wednesday.The outage affected about 5,800 customers in the Sorrento Valley, Mira Mesa, and Scripps Ranch areas just after 5 p.m., according to SDG&E's outage map. Those still without power dropped to about 1,900 customers by about 6 p.m.It's unclear what caused the outage. Crews were assessing the issue and estimated power would be restored by 8 p.m. up to 9:30 p.m. in some areas.Other outages were also reported in the Oceanside and Poway areas around the same time as well. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This Labor Day, the Little Italy community will celebrate their annual Stickball Tournament, honoring the East Coast past time made popular in several neighborhoods.The sport draws on the area's heritage that began decades ago.Since the 1920s, Little Italy has served as a ethnic business and residential hub. But as the tuna industry declined, about 35% of Little Italy disappeared with it and because of the construction of Interstate 5.But today, locals are working to restore the area to its business and cultural roots. Part of that, is stickball. Little Italy's tournament comes around every Labor Day weekend, giving spectators and players the chance to relive some childhood memories.
