INDIANAPOLIS -- Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 1-year-old Indianapolis girl.The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department tweeted the news about the arrest Wednesday morning. Darrin Banks, 27, and Brian Palmer, 29, were arrested for their involvement in the shooting. Malaysia Robson was killed when gunfire struck her home on the 3500 block of Wittfield Avenue on March 30.  445

In telling the story of a Cincinnati family dealing with the immigration dilemma, an Ohio television station is choosing to do it through comic illustrations.The project by The E.W. Scripps Company's WCPO television station, “Living in the Shadows,” is the story of the family whose daily life is clouded by the complicated laws and opinions around immigration.The story is told through the eyes and voice of a Cincinnati teenager, who is called Adriana. Comics journalist Kevin Necessary and reporter Breanna Molloy conducted several interviews with Adriana, her mother and her brother. Most of the text is taken directly from those interviews. WCPO has chosen not to identify the family members and, as a result, it is not using their real names. The drawings are not their exact likenesses. During the television interview that airs on WCPO in Cincinnati, they will be shown in shadow. The station had this to say:"We don’t want to put the family at risk of being arrested or broken up by identifying them. Arrests of undocumented immigrants like the mother in this story have risen sharply in the last year. INDIANAPOLIS -- Ninety minutes after Tonya Holtgrave dropped her dog, Titan, off at Barkefellers on the west side, the doggy daycare called to tell her that Titan appeared to be injured.Holtgrave said they told her that they weren't sure what happened, but she needed to take him to a veterinary hospital immediately."I was just shocked when they called me and said he was hurt, and it's kind of been a shock ever since," she said.According to medical records, Titan fractured his tibia in both legs."They let my dog get hurt," Holtgrave said "That's negligence on their part, not mine."She said the vets told her Titan will need an expensive surgery. She wants the company to help pay for it."I just can't afford that right now, ,000 for surgery," Holtgrave said. "I am already out over ,000 just in all of these vet bills and stuff, and his medicine."Barkefellers said they checked their surveillance cameras and did not see any point where the dog might have gotten injured under their care. Holtgrave said she had Titan's vet call the facility. The manager said they can't pay for anything unless they have proof that Titan was injured on their property."The other vet had already told him it was a traumatic injury, that he didn't walk in there with two broken legs," Holtgrave said.The owners of Barkefellers said they will help pay for the medical bills once they have their own vets review the records and X-rays themselves, and get the proof they need to make sure this injury happened there. 1518

INDIANAPOLIS -- Josh McDaniels was all set to clean out his office and travel to Indianapolis to be announced as the Colts' new head coach on Feb. 6. Instead, he talked with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and coach Bill Belichick, and had a change of heart that many Colts fans will never forgive. In his first interview since spurning the Colts to return to the Patriots, McDaniels apologized for what happened in a wild 24 hours in early February. "I apologize to anyone who was affected in any way. Indianapolis did a tremendous job," McDaniels told the Boston Globe. "They have a tremendous organization and I was lucky to be considered and I just think once I found out [about his role in New England], I made the right decision for me and my family at this time.’’McDaniels was given no guarantees about taking over for any future positions, such as taking over for Belichick when he retires, but did have his contract adjusted, the Globe reported. An NFL Network report said that McDaniels' agent, Bob LaMonte, told McDaniels that he made "perhaps the biggest professional mistake of his career" by backing out of the job with the Colts. McDaniels also discussed the conversation he had with Colts' GM Chris Ballard when he told him he wouldn't be taking the job. “Chris was tremendous the whole entire time,’’ McDaniels said. “He’s an incredible human being. He’s great at what he does. He’s going to be successful. It was difficult. I had a friendship with him — I still do. ... He’s a guy that I have a lot of respect for and admiration for. He was a big reason why I was interested in that job in the first place. It was as difficult a decision as I’ve ever made professionally. He handled it extremely well, he was a complete professional about it.’’McDaniels said he also called to apologize to the assistant coaches who had been hired after he accepted the Colts job. “I spoke to all of them that night right away, shortly after I talked to Chris,’’ McDaniels said. “They were professionals. Like I said, it wasn’t easy for anybody.
