LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - A vigil held Wednesday for a bicyclist killed at an intersection in South Los Angeles on Tuesday became the scene of another hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian."The driver of a tan-colored Honda Accord drove through the vigil at the intersection of Manchester and Normandie avenues shortly after 1 p.m.," Los Angeles police Officer Tony Im said.The video from the scene captured the sedan striking the pedestrian, who is then flung into the air, appearing to hit his head on the car windshield and finally landing on the asphalt.RELATED: GOOD SAMARITAN HIT WHILE HELPING MOTORISTAfter rolling to his feet, he hopped over to the sidewalk on one foot, seemingly injuring his right leg. He then collapsed onto the sidewalk where onlookers came to his aid.As the suspected hit-and-run motorist drove off, a group from the dozens of bicyclists taking part in the vigil attempted to follow the vehicle, including people running after the driver.During the vigil, "some rocks and bottles were thrown toward responding officers and a patrol vehicle, but no officers were injured and no arrests were made," Im said.Police were able to eventually clear the intersection. A department SUV can be seen having its rear window smashed.According to the LAPD's South Traffic Division, the bicyclist killed Tuesday was a man in his early 20s, who was struck by a white Porsche Cayenne SUV. The victim was identified in news reports as 22-year-old Frederick Frazier."The driver of the SUV that hit the young man was heading east on Manchester when the collision occurred. The driver then headed south on Budlong Avenue before traveling west. It was last seen westbound near La Salle Avenue Elementary School," police said.CNS contributed to this report. 1808

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Prosecutors recommended Friday that Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Huffman serve one month behind bars and pay a ,000 fine for her role in the college admissions cheating scandal, according to a filing in Boston federal court. The “Desperate Housewives'' actress pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud for paying ,000 to have a proctor correct her daughter's answers on a college-entrance exam. In their sentencing memorandum filed Friday, prosecutors also recommended that the 56-year-old actress, who earned an Oscar nod for ``Transamerica,'' serve one year of supervised release following her stint in federal custody. Prosecutors suggested in May they would seek as much as four months in prison for Huffman. Huffman's attorneys filed court papers asking that the judge sentence the actress to one year of probation and 250 hours of community service. More than two dozen people submitted letters of support to the court, including Huffman's husband William H. Macy and ``Desperate Housewives'' co-star Eva Longoria.But prosecutors wrote that anything less than a jail term would be insufficient, describing Huffman's conduct as ``deliberate and manifestly criminal,'' according to the sentencing memorandum. The actress will be sentenced Sept. 13 in Boston. ``In the context of this case, neither probation nor home confinement - - in a large home in the Hollywood Hills with an infinity pool -- would constitute meaningful punishment or deter others from committing similar crimes,'' prosecutors wrote. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The popular grocery chain Trader Joe's says it won't be changing ethnic-sounding labels on its line of Mexican, Chinese and other international foods, adding they are not racist. Earlier this month the company said it was looking at changing some labels. But now it says it has no problem with ethnic-food labels like Trader Jose's, Trader Ming's and Arabian Joe. "Decades ago, our Buying Team started using product names, like Trader Giotto’s, Trader José’s, Trader Ming’s, etc. We thought then—and still do—that this naming of products could be fun and show appreciation for other cultures," a press release from the company reads.The company says they were created years ago in a lighthearted effort to promote inclusion and that customers still like them. "We continue our ongoing evaluation, and those products that resonate with our customers and sell well will remain on our shelves," the company said.
