Apple unveiled its latest slate of iPhones on Tuesday at a widely-covered media event at its campus in Cupertino, California. The new lineup includes the iPhone 11, an entry-level device, as well as the higher-end iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, which have four-figure price tags. The company's iPhone sales have slumped in recent quarters in part because consumers are waiting longer to upgrade their smartphones. So, is it actually worth it to upgrade to these new models? The short answer: It depends how much you care about better cameras and improved battery life. Here's a look at the key differences between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro and two comparable models from the previous year: the iPhone XR, which was the low-end model released in 2018, and the iPhone XS, the higher-end model that year.PriceiPhone 11: Starts at 9iPhone XR: Starts at 9 (originally 9)iPhone 11 Pro: Starts at 9iPhone XS: Like the 11 Pro, the XS originally started at 9. Boeing's 737 MAX jets will remain grounded for weeks after the Federal Aviation Administration said Monday afternoon that the plane maker continues to work on a software fix.Boeing had said it would submit the fix to the FAA last week, and it had gathered hundreds of industry representatives at its Seattle-area facilities last Wednesday to demonstrate the software changes. But the FAA said Monday that the company concluded "additional work" is needed."The FAA expects to receive Boeing's final package of its software enhancement over the coming weeks for FAA approval," the agency said in a statement. "Time is needed for additional work by Boeing as the result of an ongoing review of the 737 MAX Flight Control System to ensure that Boeing has identified and appropriately addressed all pertinent issues."Boeing acknowledged the new timeline, saying in a statement that the software change would be "completed in the coming weeks." It did not say why the timeline had changed."Safety is our first priority, and we will take a thorough and methodical approach to the development and testing of the update to ensure we take the time to get it right," the company said.American Airlines said Monday afternoon that it was aware the MAX "may be further delayed" in returning to service. It has been forced to cancel dozens of flights daily while the planes await a fix.American 1391
Auto workers at Fiat Chrysler have ratified a new four-year contract, closing the door on the possibility of another strike like the one that shut down rival General Motors for six weeks. The United Auto Workers union said that 71% of members at Fiat Chrysler voted for the contract. It was a much easier vote than four years ago when membership voted against the initial contract proposal brought to them for a vote. The 432
Baltimore did not take President Donald Trump's recent attack of the city lying down. Instead, Charm City was quick to stand up and fight back.Trump lashed out at another prominent African American lawmaker on Saturday, tweeting that his Baltimore district is a "disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess."The President's tirade was directed at House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, who represents Maryland's 7th Congressional District in the House and recently lambasted conditions at the border. Trump's attack against Cummings was the latest verbal assault against a minority member of Congress who is a frequent critic of the President. The President suggested that conditions in Cummings' district, which is majority black and includes parts of Baltimore, are "FAR WORSE and more dangerous" than those at the US-Mexico border and called it a "very dangerous & filthy place."Cummings, the city's leaders and residents were quick to defend Baltimore. The Twitter hashtag #wearebaltimore was trending Saturday night, with users posting pictures and comments expressing their pride in the city."Mr. President, I go home to my district daily," Cummings wrote on Twitter Saturday in response. "Each morning, I wake up, and I go and fight for my neighbors. It is my constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch. But, it is my moral duty to fight for my constituents."Baltimore's Mayor Jack Young also took the attack to heart, criticizing Trump for disparaging a "vibrant American City.""It's completely unacceptable for the political leader of our country to denigrate a vibrant American City like Baltimore, and to viciously attack U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings a patriot and a hero," Young tweeted. The Baltimore Sun's 1773
