BALTIMORE, Md. — Baltimore Police are investigating the shooting of a 5-year-old girl on the 1000 block of McKean Street in West Baltimore on Monday evening.According to an official with the mayor's office, the 5-year-old girl is the younger sister of 7-year-old Taylor Hayes who was shot in the backseat of a car in July and was pronounced dead two weeks later.Officers were called to an area hospital for a report of the 5-year-old walk-in shooting victim who was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her groin.Investigators say that residents in the area of the 1000 block of McKean Street heard several gunshots when someone looked outside and saw the girl laying on the sidewalk suffering from her gunshot wound.A person then picked up the girl from the sidewalk and drove her to an area hospital.The young girl was immediately rushed into surgery and is expected to survive.Officials believe that the girl was caught in the middle of a shootout involving suspects in an unknown car and suspects on foot. 1077

(KGTV) - A City of Chula Vista spokesman said the city does not have any immediate plans to redevelop the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course despite a report that showed roughly 2,700 homes built on the Bonita-area course.“For anybody to want to take it away, it’s hurtful,” exclaimed Bonita resident Xochitl Rouston.A report called “Redevelopment of the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course” was shared on a Bonita Facebook group by a member who found the report online. The report outlines options to redevelop the area currently occupied by the course and parts of Rohr Park, which is in Chula Vista but borders Bonita.“Where are we going to take the kids?  Where are we going to go walking?  Where are we going to have our parties?” questioned Rouston who has lived in Bonita for more than 40 years.A Chula Vista spokesman told 10News the city completed a study in 2015 that said revenue at the course was declining and it wasn’t generating enough revenue to refurbish the course.  The report in question was issued so the city could “know what our options are should the golf course not be able to generate a return and pay for itself.” The spokesman emphasized the city is in the very early stages and there is no timeline for any projects.“We’re just trying to raise awareness, get everybody together,” said Rouston, who said they were surprised to learn any redevelopment was being considered.The Chula Vista spokesman said the Bonita residents would be notified of any discussions or meetings pertaining to the golf course or Rohr Park. 1594

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A large area of Boulder County, including the towns of Jamestown and Ward, are under a mandatory evacuation order after two new wildfires sparked over the weekend.The 8,788-acre Calwood Fire started Saturday and is burning near the Cal-Wood Education Center in the Jamestown area. Officials Sunday night confirmed that 26 homes were lost to the fire, so far, mostly on the eastern side of the fire along Mountain Ridge Drive and Foothills Ranch Drive. No injuries were reported.The Calwood Fire was about 15% contained as of Sunday night. The most concerning area of the fire was the northern ridge of the fire area, due to the steep, rocky terrain and dry fuels, officials said.On Sunday, a new wildfire, dubbed the Lefthand Canyon Fire, started in the 14000 block of Lefthand Canyon Drive near the town of Ward. It has charred 312 acres as of Sunday night. Crews were still battling the fire Sunday but had contained the blaze north of Lefthand Canyon Drive.Smoke from both fires can be seen throughout most of Boulder and the surrounding area.The Boulder County fires prompted authorities to send out pre-evacuation notices to thousands of residents nearby, including people in the town of Lyons. In the Calwood Fire, there are 1,600 homes and 2,600 structures total in the evacuation area, and around 3,000 people impacted.Several roads are closed, including County Road 87, and officials evacuated Hall Ranch and Heil Valley trails.The map below shows the areas under an evacuation or pre-evacuation order:There is an evacuation check-in point for the Calwood Fire set up at 3460 N. At least 250 firefighters are on the ground fighting the blaze.The Calwood Fire has become Boulder County's largest wildfire on record.County and Forest Service investigators are investigating the cause of the Calwood Fire.
