SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Halloween fun will return to Legoland California this season with costumes, outdoor festivities, and delicious treats for guests.Legoland's Halloween festivities will bring the spooky season to Miniland U.S.A., a scavenger hunt, LEGO building activities, and good bags filled with cady on Oct. 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, and 30 and 31.Character meet-and-greets will also be held and families will be able to dig into some delectable eats at Smoke House BBQ and NINJA Kitchen.Of course, the park will be dressed to impress in its best Halloween decor and young visitors are invited to dress up as well.Tickets for Legoland's special outdoor experience start at .99 and guests will be required to purchase tickets online in advance to reserve access.To protect guests from the spread of the coronavirus, capacity at Miniland will be reduced, cashless payment options will be used, social distancing measures will be in place, and regular sanitation and cleaning will be performed.Face coverings will be required for all guests three years old and up and park employees.The park's event will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. 1246

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Frustrated business owners in the Midway District say an old strip club was a better neighbor than the current property owner, which happens to be a church. The Rock Church bought the strip club, formerly known as The Body Shop, in August of 2018. Now, businesses say nothing has changed except there’s now more trash and drugs. Neighbors say they want the church to clean it up. Noor Shamoon comes to work at Navis Pack and Shop to a very unwelcome sight. “Food, trash feces on wall, on our vehicles.”He says it’s a foul odor and claims people who hang out in the area vandalized the businesses work truck. Employees at the Midas muffler business across the street also say trash and loitering have become huge problems. “We're trying to run a business and it's hard when you have that across the street,” said Gary Stricker. People who work in the area say prostitution is rampant as are drugs. One man reportedly overdosed recently. “I think he maybe shot up some kind of drug or something. We were concerned about him so we called an ambulance,” Stricker said. When The Rock Church dropped the banner over the “nude girls” sign at the former strip club, they promised to clean up the neighborhood. Since the church purchased the property for .3 million, they haven’t touched it. "I hope they do something about that to clean the place up you know,” Stricker said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Doorbell cameras catch all kinds of things these days. Animals, package thieves.But one Poway camera caught something else that has some parents and teachers scratching their heads.Joanne Woodward, a 2nd-grade Poway Unified School District teacher, says a doorbell camera caught a school board member hanging election flyers on door handles.The problem? The flyers featured scathing "report cards" of members up for re-election containing false information. "My students would be shocked, all of the students at our school would be shocked to think that an adult, a role model at our school, would do something like this," Woodward said.The video was taken in the days leading up to the election. It shows Poway Unified school board member Kimberley Beatty and her husband, Edward, placing the door hangers on handles in Poway.The "report cards" claimed that the two members up for re-election had colluded with criminals, used taxpayer dollars for themselves, and wouldn't let students speak at meetings."Just appalling," Woodward added. There's the issue of who the flyer claims paid for the materials: "Citizens for Sound Governance." A group that — if it really existed — would more than likely have to formally file to be a committee because of how much money they spent."The intention there was to undermine our re-election," said T.J. Zane, PUSD's board president. Zane was one of the targets as well, but won his election and is now president."It's just inappropriate, it's conduct unbecoming of a board member," Zane said. Some parents and teachers, echoing that, have already started to demand Beatty step down.10News tried to talk to Beatty at her home, but she told 10News, "no comment."The California Fair Political Practices Commission said they're looking into whether Beatty and her husband violated part of the political reform act.Zane left shaking his head, saying, "it was sneaky, it was done stealthily." 2012

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Hepatitis A is a microscopic killer that is very hard to kill. The virus can last weeks, even months, on a dry surface, according to the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention.“The majority of infected individuals will not have symptoms, but few will have symptoms,” Dr. Tarek Hassanein, professor of medicine at UCSD, said.San Diego County is in the midst of a Hepatitis A epidemic.The virus is known to have sickened 421 people and killed 16 in San Diego County.RELATED: Customers at San Diego restaurant may have been exposed to hepatitis AThe outbreak started with the homeless and drug using population.Now it has spread to the general population, with nearly 50 documented cases of people becoming sick, who have no ties to homeless or drug users, according to the San Diego County Public Health Department.Epidemiologists are still trying to find anything the people may have in common, but so far have not found any link.Crews are power-washing sidewalks with a bleach solution in East Village downtown.RELATED:  1057

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Flu-related deaths rose to 11 in San Diego County over the last week, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency. The agency reports that the latest flu death was a 51-year-old woman from North County who died on December 31. She had underlying medical conditions, health officials confirm. To date, 11 people have died locally from the flu this season – the same number as this time last year. The number of lab confirmed cases also jumped last week to over 1,600, 260 more than the previous week. “Given the high number of cases, influenza activity in the region continues to be widespread, just like it is in other parts of the nation,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The best protection against the flu is getting vaccinated. This year’s flu vaccine matches the viruses circulating this season.”So far this season, there have been more than 5,400 lab-confirmed cases of the flu.
