SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Sheriff's deputies in East County arrested 36 people today in a warrant sweep, clearing 44 misdemeanor warrants and two felony warrants.The sweep included the cities and unincorporated areas of Lemon Grove, Spring Valley, Jamul, El Cajon, La Mesa and Rancho San Diego.The Sheriff's Department's Court Services Bureau-Field Division conducted the search and arrest of people with outstanding warrants regardless of the charge or bail amount.The department encouraged people who have outstanding warrants to turn themselves in between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at any sheriff's court facilities. 633

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The first batches of Pfizer's long-awaited COVID-19 vaccine arrived in San Diego County Monday for both U.S. Department of Defense personnel and civilians, with initial vaccinations to begin as soon as Tuesday.Naval Medical Center San Diego received an unspecified number of vaccines Monday, with front-line medical workers and essential mission personnel -- such as EMS, firefighters and gate personnel -- to begin receiving the first dose of the vaccinations Tuesday. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton will take a portion of those doses for personnel north of San Diego."We are proud to support operation Warp Speed," said Rear Adm. Tim Weber, commander of Naval Medical Forces Pacific. "This vaccine will strengthen our ability to protect our people. I am confident in the stringent regulatory process of the FDA."Weber said the number of doses delivered to the Navy in San Diego is likely fewer than the number of "first-tier" medical personnel at the two hospitals. Subsequent vaccine allotments -- as the supply chain dictates -- will allow for the second dose of the vaccine to be administered to medical and other "mission-essential" workers, as well as those who missed it the first time, Tricare dependents and non-essential personnel.The number of doses delivered to the San Diego-area military is classified, Weber said, calling it an "operational security issue." However, the U.S. government has allocated vaccines to 64 jurisdictions, and the DOD plans to administer its initial allocation of 43,875 doses to populations of uniformed service members -- both active and reserves. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties like condominiums and townhomes both fell more than 15 percent from October to November, according to data released Friday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors. Single-family home sales fell from 1,719 in October to 1,452 in November, a 15.5 percent drop. Attached property sales suffered an even steeper drop, falling 22.8 percent from 942 in October to 727 in November. Home sales have trended down in the second half of the year since the high water mark of more than 2,200 single-family homes and nearly 1,200 attached properties sold in June.Month-over-month home prices also fell from October to November, albeit not as drastically. Single-family home prices dropped 1.4 percent from 3,700 to 5,000, while attached property prices fell 5 percent -- from 8,000 to 7,000. Prices of single-family and attached properties have remained steady for most of the year, according to the GSDAR.``The end of the year and the holiday season are usually a sluggish time for home sale activity,'' said SDAR President Steve Fraioli. ``But it does appear that the pace of home price growth has slowed. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police were searching today for two men suspected of being involved in a shooting on an Encanto street.A man and a woman were standing outside of a parked car on 59th Street near Market Street around 7:20 p.m. Saturday when two men approached them, San Diego Police Sgt. Michael Tansey said. One suspect pulled out a handgun and shot at the male victim, who was hit once in his right ankle. The two suspects ran away north on 59th Street, then west on KenwoodStreet.
