A California farm that was tied to an outbreak of E.coli on romaine lettuce is now recalling cauliflower and other lettuce grown at the farm.Adam Bros. Farming Inc. sent out a news release Thursday saying red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce and cauliflower harvested November 27-30 has been recalled because it may also be contaminated with E.coli.The farm initiated the voluntary recall with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday. The cauliflower was distributed in 10 states: Arizona, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. It was also distributed in Tijuana, Mexico and Canada. The additional lettuce recalled was sent to states mostly on the western side of the country. Red and green leaf lettuce was distributed in California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington and Canada. Red leaf lettuce only was distributed in Minnesota and Tijuana, Mexico.The farm said it discovered sediment in a reservoir that tested positive for E.coli from a reservoir near where the produce is grown and water from that reservoir may have come into contact with the produce.Click here for a list of tag numbers of products affected by the recall.  1262

A federal appeals court has ordered a judge to dismiss the government's case against former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, marking an abrupt end to a years-long legal fight.The New York Times and CNN confirmed the ruling Wednesday morning.Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in 2017 about his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak as President Donald Trump prepared to take office after winning the 2016 election. He attempted to withdraw his guilty plea earlier this year, and in May, the Justice Department dropped all charges against him.Upon the Justice Department's decision, the judge in the case, Judge Emmet Sullivan, chose not to dismiss the case immediately. Instead, he sought counsel from the court of appeals. On Wednesday, a panel of three judges ruled that Sullivan did not have adequate reason to question the Justice Department's decision. 899

A Kentucky infectious disease expert who advocated for social distancing and the use of masks in her state has died after a monthslong battle with COVID-19.According to WBKO-TV in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dr. Rebecca Shadowen — an infectious disease specialist at The Medical Center in Bowling Green and a community leader amid the pandemic — died on Sept. 11 following a four-month fight with the virus.According to a statement from The Medical Center, Shawoden had worked at the center since 1989 and had been a "physician leader" across Kentucky for more than 30 years.In the early days of the pandemic, Shadowen pushed tirelessly for those in her community to isolate and adopt common-sense social distancing measures."(I)f you could save the life of another person without harming your own, would you?" Showden posted on Facebook on March 13. "Although we are (fiercely) individuals, we still live as community. Please take the Coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously. YOU may be healthy or may not feel this is threatening to you."Shadowen later served on Bowling Green-Warren County Coronavirus Working Group — an inter-agency organization that helped set policy and informed Kentuckians about the risks posed by COVID-19.According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Shadowen contracted COVID-19 on May 13. David Shawoden, Rebecca's wife, said that both she and their daughter tested positive for the virus, while her son did not. Shadowen's daughter reportedly only suffered mild symptoms.However, Rebecca Shadowen faced a steep road to recovery. NBC News reports she was on and off a ventilator and spent months in the hospital. In a July Facebook post, Shawoden thanked her friends for continued prayers and kind words and asked others to wear a mask or face covering while in public."Although I am not home yet, I am in a very long recovery period and making slow progress here in Bowling Green," she wrote. A group of Republicans in the House of Representatives have formally nominated President Donald Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.In a letter addressed to Berit Reiss-Andersen, the chair of the Nobel Committee, the group nominated Trump on the basis of his work to end the war between North and South Korea."Since taking office, President Trump has worked tirelessly to apply maximum pressure on North Korea to end its illicit weapons programs and bring peace to the region. A California synagogue has been vandalized with anti-Semitic graffiti less than a week after a gunman killed 11 Jewish worshipers in Pittsburgh.Someone spray-painted "F*** Jews" early Wednesday on the wall of Beth Jacob Congregation in Irvine, police said. The Irvine Police Department posted a surveillance-camera video of a man in a hoodie spraying the exterior of the synagogue.Police said officers will increase patrols around the city's Jewish organizations."IPD has reached out to its partners in the Jewish community to reaffirm the Department's commitment to protecting their members, houses of worship and educational institutions," the department posted on Facebook.
