SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Saturday night, the Padres will welcome back one of the most iconic characters in franchise history.The Famous San Diego Chicken will return to Petco Park as part of the team's 50th anniversary celebration."It's like coming back and seeing family again," says Ted Giannoulas, the man behind the mascot. "It's great. These fans put me on the map. It was their laughter, their good faith over the decades that launched my unique career."The Chicken started in 1974 as a radio station mascot. Over the years, his popularity grew, turning the San Diego favorite in a national phenomenon.But it's been 10 years since the Chicken ruled the roost at a Padres game. The team decided their anniversary season was the right time to welcome him home."As you look back through our 50 year history, it was a piece of our story that we thought really needed to be told this year," says Marketing Director Wayne Partello.As part of the Chicken's return, the team will give away a San Diego Chicken bobble head to every fan at Saturday's game."It's the spitting image of me," says the Chicken, who partnered with the team to make sure they got every detail right, down to the coloring on individual feathers.The Chicken will also sign autographs and take pictures with fans throughout the game. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego renters with children spend almost as much on childcare as they do on rent, according to a new report.The report by HotPads found that, combined with rent, San Diegans dish out roughly ,195 a month on both expenses. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Since they got the call for help a week ago, San Diego Border Dreamers has been working around the clock to set up an emergency medical clinic in Tijuana.Board Director Milad Torabi says he's getting word migrants have conditions including fevers, rashes, blisters and bad sunburns. On a Go Fund Me, they're raising money for basic medical, first aid, and sanitary supplies.The advocacy group is partnering with two UC San Diego organizations which specialize in this area: Flying Samaritans and the International Health Collective.They're accepting monetary donations as well as medical supplies.San Diego Border Dreamers is also seeking doctors, nurses, medical students, acupuncturists, physical therapists and medical translators willing to volunteer their time. 799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Seven patients from Rady Children’s Hospital took a break from their treatment and got in the water with Bottlenose dolphins.SeaWorld trainer Jorge Villa hosted the children for the experience. Villa holds a special place in his heart for Rady Children’s because he was treated there when he was diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 12.For many of the children, it’s therapeutic and offers them a chance to forget about whatever health challenges they face and focus on being a kid.“It just brings you into the playful childishness that you have in your heart and in your mind,” said Juliana Abraham, 14. She’s been fighting a rare form of brain cancer.  Her mom says faith, prayer, and a positive attitude have helped Juliana persevere.Rady has been offering the dolphin interaction program to patients since 2008. It was first inspired by SeaWorld dolphin trainer and cancer survivor Joy Clausen-Soto.For more information on the program, contact Rady Children’s Hospital at 858-576-1700. 1038
