President Donald Trump brought his hard-line economic nationalism to a summit of Pacific Rim leaders here Friday, issuing a stern rebuke of trade practices that have harmed American workers. But the President also continued to insist his US predecessors are to blame."We are not going to let the United States be taken advantage of anymore," Trump said in a speech at the start of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. "I am always going to put America first, the same way I expect all of you in this room to put your countries first."It was a familiar message delivered to an audience that's still coming to grips with Trump's protectionist views. Even as Trump makes his debut appearance at this yearly set of meetings, other leaders are hoping to announce a revamped Trans-Pacific Partnership -- the landmark trade accord negotiated by the Obama administration but scrapped by Trump -- that doesn't included the United States. 945

President Donald Trump is visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin, which was the site of both peaceful protests and riots last week following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. The protests have mostly been peaceful in the city in the last few days. However, some politicians fear that Trump's visit could stoke embers of emotion and spark more violence in the nights to come.Trump's visit takes place against the wishes of both Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and Kenosha Mayor Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian — both Democrats — who say that emotions in the city are still too raw."We want everything to calm down," Antaramian said in a press conference on Monday. "We want to give people an opportunity to talk before the president comes into town."During press availability on Monday, Trump said it was important to visit the law enforcement agents and national guardsmen and thank them for bringing order to the city, adding that his visit could "increase love and respect for our country."Republican lawmakers in the state, including Rep. Bryan Steil, welcome the President's visit."Many men and women stood up to help provide that public safety in Kenosha, and the President is coming to say thank you," Steil said. While in Kenosha, Trump is not scheduled to visit Blake or his family. The President said Monday that he spoke with the family's pastor in the hopes of setting up a call with Blake and his family, but said the pastor requested a lawyer be on the line during the call, which he thought was "inappropriate."Instead, Trump will survey the damage in the city, tour an emergency operations center and participate in a "safety roundtable" before returning to Washington. During a press conference on Monday, Trump said he felt it was important to thank national guardsmen and police."I have to see the people that did such a good job for me," Trump said on Monday. 1867

President Donald Trump publicly broke his silence Thursday morning on the sentencing of his former personal attorney and "fixer" Michael Cohen."I never directed Michael Cohen to break the law. He was a lawyer and he is supposed to know the law," Trump tweeted."It is called 'advice of counsel,' and a lawyer has great liability if a mistake is made," he added.Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison Wednesday for crimes that included making false statements to Congress, tax evasion, and arranging payments during the 2016 election to silence women who claimed they had affairs with Trump. Trump denies those claims. Cohen attributed his offenses related to Trump to his "duty to cover up his dirty deeds."Although Trump denies directly ordering Cohen to break the law, Trump's comments leave open the technical possibility that he directed Cohen to make payments that were ultimately unlawful. As the courtroom drama unfolded Wednesday, Trump remained largely silent and ignored reporters' questions about Cohen during an executive order signing event at the White House. But CNN reported that the President was privately seething about Cohen's sentencing, telling associates that Cohen is a "liar," according to one administration official. While the White House did not comment on Trump's private conversations, one official pointed to a tweet Trump sent last week as an indication of his sentiments."He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence," Trump tweeted about Cohen last week.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A family in Poway escaped after their home burst into flames in Poway Sunday morning. The fire started at a home on the 17000 block of St. Andrews Drive around 3 a.m. According to firefighters, crews were able to extinguish the flames in most of the attic, but the home was a total loss. A man inside the home at the time of the fire says he and his adult son woke up to the smoke alarms going off. "I never thought that things would happen this quickly in a fire that I was involved with in the house. I though well, I'll have time to get stuff out. It going to be in one part of the house. But this thing was like, you couldn't go in any part of the house after we were aware of it for a minute or two,” said homeowner Greg Heer. Heer said they were able to get their two dogs out of the home, but the flames were too intense to return and rescue several kittens.A board and care home next door had to be evacuated as crews battled the flame. Firefighters say it’s still unclear what caused the fire. 1035

President Donald Trump criticized the separation of children and parents at the US border on Saturday, despite the fact that his own administration has supported a policy that could lead to an uptick in separating families."Put pressure on the Democrats to end the horrible law that separates children from there (sic) parents once they cross the Border into the U.S.," the President tweeted on Saturday.CNN has reported that the Trump administration has made a decision?to refer anyone caught crossing the border illegally for federal prosecution. That policy may result in more parents and children being separated at the border.Attorney General Jeff Sessions said earlier this month, "if you cross the border unlawfully ... we will prosecute you," adding, "If you're smuggling a child, then we're going to prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you, probably, as required by law. If you don't want your child separated, then don't bring them across the border illegally." 1011
