SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting an elderly woman at a Central Coast beach parking lot in San Luis Obispo, law officials said.Morro Bay Police Officers responded to a disturbance call at around 1 p.m. at the Morro Rock parking lot on Coleman Drive, authorities said.Witnesses told officers that the suspect assaulted an elderly woman and knocked her to the ground. Numerous people witnessed the attack and went to help the victim, according to police.Officials said the woman was treated by first responders for moderate injuries.In a press release, officials said Brian Robert Sprinkle, 39, of La Jolla, "was participating in a surf competition when he exited the water and assaulted the woman without provocation."Sprinkle was booked in the San Luis Obispo County Jail on felony charges of elder abuse and battery, according to Morro Bay police.Officers also found a firearm with Sprinkle's property and seized it.It is believed the suspect was under the influence of marijuana and hallucinogenic drugs, police said in a statement.Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Morro Bay Police Department (805) 772-6225.While police say Sprinkle was taking part in the Big, Bad and Ugly surf competition, surf contest organizers tell KSBY News he was not registered with the contest and is not affiliated with any of the surf clubs that participated.ABC 10News affiliate KSBY News contributed to this report. 1497

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An incredible San Diego holiday tradition is making its way back to the bay.The San Diego Parade Bay of Lights has announced this year’s dates and times to take in the spectacular holiday tradition.This year, the parade will take place December 9 and December 16. The event begins at 5 p.m. and will make its way through the Bayfront.Before making the turn to Coronado, the parade will proceed to the pier at Cesar Chavez Park.The parade is put on annually by the Port of San Diego and brings more than 100,000 residents and visitors to the bay each year. Roughly 80 boats are expected to participate in the parade’s 47th year. 655

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Tesla owner got a road-rage surprise after a quick shopping trip at a Best Buy store in Carmel Mountain Ranch.Cory Janney bought his 2018 Model 3 in December. On Saturday, just past 1 p.m., he and his wife drove through the entrance of The Courtyard shopping center."As we were coming in, a car drove straight through a stop sign. I honked my horn for a millisecond," said Janney.The gray BMW drove off while Janney and his wife parked and went into Best Buy. After about six minutes, they came back to the car."We were both pretty shocked," said Janney.Along the front door on the passenger side was a deep scratch. A look at their dashcam video revealed the culprit. Soon after they parked and went inside, a gray BMW pulls into the parking spot next to their Tesla. A man with a green shirt gets out and looks around. In his hand is something sharp, like a key."He had stiff arm and proceeded to scratch the passenger side of the door, before getting back into the vehicle," said Janney.The "scratch" deep went all the way through, past the clear coat and the paint. Janney hasn't got an estimate yet, but one expert told 10news it could run upwards of several thousand dollars."It's disturbing something so small could lead to so much rage. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Americans are being warned to not eat any romaine lettuce after concerns over a new E-Coli outbreak. At least 32 people in 11 states have gotten sick. One of San Diego’s largest produce suppliers is jumping into action. Speciality Produce supplies hundreds of restaurants and caterers around the county with fresh produce. Owner Bob Harrington says he had to notify each customer about the CDC warning. Harrington says employees went through a list, of about 9 pages, and called customers warning them to throw out all of their romaine. “I think there’s a really good system in place so whenever something like this does happen we can respond really quickly,” says Harrington. Employees spent almost 2 hours calling all of the customers. “I think most companies, like us, practice a couple times a year just to do a dry run to make sure we’re ready to do a recall at a moments notice and finish it within minutes.” Specialty produce has about five to seven different types of romaine in its warehouse. All of them were pulled from the main floor. Harrington says he will replace the romaine from all of his customers with a new green, free of charge. The CDC is not only urging everyone to throw away their romaine but to clean the areas where the green was stored.  1329

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego Police Sergeant was arrested Friday after the department was tipped off to individuals reportedly soliciting sex from minors.Police say Joseph Ruvido, 49, was arrested in Carmel Valley and charged with one felony count of soliciting sex with a minor. A search warrant was served at the 21-year veteran's residence and he was taken into custody without incident.Ruvido was assigned to the SDPD Watch Commander's Office, approving reports and and bookings. Prior to that, Ruvido was a patrol sergeant with the department's Eastern division, according to SDPD Chief David Nisleit."I assure you Sgt. Ruvido will be held accountable both criminally and administratively," Nisleit said. "We take this very, very seriously."Watch the SDPD press conference below:"It is very embarrassing to have to talk about the arrest of one of our own," Nisleit added.The chief said Ruvido has been suspended without pay as the investigation continues.On Wednesday, police received a Crime Stoppers tip through the via the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit that multiple people may be soliciting sex from minors. Police identified one of the individuals as Ruvido and opened an investigation leading to his arrest.Once Ruvido was identified, investigators conducted 24/7 surveillance with investigators from the San Diego District Attorney's Office, according to SDPD Lt. Jud Campbell.SDPD declined to share any further details to protect the investigation, Nisleit said."We're going to be looking at everything," Nisleit said. "To the communities that we serve, every member of this department fully understands and strives to meet the expectations of this profession.
