SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for a woman they say robbed a San Diego Wells Fargo bank. According to police, the woman entered the bank on the 9200 block of Miramar Road just before 6 p.m. Thursday. Police say the woman demanded money from the teller, who handed the suspect an unknown amount of cash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Jodie Grenier joined the United States Marine Corps right out of high school, serving two tours in Iraq as part of the invasion in 2003 and the following year as an intelligence analyst in Falluja."My job was very meaningful and purposeful to me," said Grenier. "I fused information from all different sources; whether it was sniper teams, unmanned aerial vehicles, sensors on the ground, and really built a picture to brief unit commanders and mitigate threats to our troops."Grenier had tremendous responsibility but says the transition to civilian life was difficult."Finding employment. Having odd questions about whether I contributed as maybe the same as my male counterparts. It was a bit frustrating," she said.In her search for a new direction, Grenier came across a listing posted by Military Women in Need, a Southern California nonprofit founded in 1920 as a housing association for widows and war nurses. The group was looking for a new leader and with a passion for helping others, Grenier stepped in. She also gave them a new identity."The first thing I asked was, when are you going to change that awful name? Because 'Military Women In Need' just did not embody the spirit of the corps or the warrior spirit that I think resides in all of our veterans," said Grenier.The Foundation for Women Warriors was born with a new respect for the contributions and sacrifices being made by women in the military, while still recognizing the unique challenges they can face."We provide emergency financial assistance, childcare assistance, professional development, and more recently we opened up a warehouse to offset critical costs like baby wipes, formula, and diapers," Grenier says.As for that professional development, Grenier says their workshops don't pigeonhole; featuring a spectrum of employers."Whether it's finance, tech, aerospace, it can be trades. We've had Anderson Plumbing come and speak about HVAC and plumbing," she added.There are classes on negotiating salary and benefits, facing financial challenges like rent and childcare, and flexible work schedules for single parents. The support reaches some 1,300 local women and children a year."It's a community that I am a part of," says Grenier. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said Friday a new review of the death of Rebecca Zahau, whose body was found hanging at the Spreckels Mansion in Coronado in 2011, found no evidence she "died at the hands of another," and the department will not reopen the case.The review, conducted this year, involved officials from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Division, Sheriff's Homicide Detail, Sheriff's Crime Lab, County Medical Examiner's Office and Coronado Police Department who were not part of the original investigation. The team looked at the case with "fresh eyes", Gore said.Zahau, 32, was the girlfriend of the mansion’s owner, Arizona pharmaceutical CEO Jonah Shacknai. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County leaders announced Tuesday that churches will be allowed to reopen Wednesday if they have a plan posted and follow newly-released state guidelines. The county said San Diego County's Public Health Officer does not have to approve the plans. "We know that practicing and sharing your faith is important, but we want to make sure we keep everyone safe," said Greg Cox, San Diego County Supervisor.The news follows a state announcement Monday that churches will be allowed to reopen with certain restrictions. Newsom releases updated guidelines for reopening of California churchesSome of the guidelines include limiting attendance to 25 percent of building capacity or 100 attendees, whichever is lower, and arranging for social distancing. Arthur Hodges, the senior pastor at South Bay United Pentecostal Church, is still in a legal battle with the state over restrictions. He said the state's stay-at-home order and restrictions violate religious right and discriminate against houses of worship."This church behind me seats over 600 people," said Hodges. "I could probably come back with a 30 to 50 percent capacity."After being denied in federal court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Hodges is taking his fight to the Supreme Court, for one main reason."We've got to prevent this from happening in the future," he said. "We need those limits established now that government is not encroaching on our religious rights."His church plans to resume in-person service on Sunday."We are not putting any pressure on anyone to come to church until they want to come, ready to come, comfortable in coming," he explained.Churches will be allowed to reopen beginning midnight Wednesday, according to the county. Do not hold potlucks or similar family-style eating and drinking events that increase the risk of cross contamination.Strongly consider discontinuing singing, group recitation, and other practices and performances where there is increased likelihood for transmission from contaminated exhaled droplets.Consider modifying practices that are specific to particular faith traditions that might encourage the spread of COVID-19. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are investigating the death of a man they say appeared to have been in an altercation right before his death.SDPD officers responded to a medical distress call just after 2 p.m. Tuesday inside a home at 6600 Springfield Street in Encanto. When police arrived, San Diego Fire-Rescue crews were already there performing CPR on a man.Police say the man was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.Homicide detectives arrived and began investigating. Wednesday, police said investigators learned that the man was involved in a physical altercation and injured before his death. They add that the man had difficulty breathing and collapsed.The 45-year-old man, identified Thursday as Antoine Deonte Dorsey, was a resident of the home and has been identified, but his name is being withheld at this time, police say.Police are now trying to locate witnesses of the altercation.
