SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A driver was shot while traveling on a Clairemont street Thursday night, according to police.At around 10:30 p.m., a man was driving in the 5800 block of Chateau Drive when he was hit by gunfire, San Diego police said.ABC 10News learned the injured man was able to drive a few blocks before the SUV crashed into an electrical box in front of San Diego Fire-Rescue Station 36.Firefighters and paramedics at the station heard the crash and rushed to help the victim, who had at least one gunshot wound on his upper body.The unidentified victim was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, but his condition is unknown as of 9 a.m. Friday.Police said witnesses reported seeing a silver 4-door sedan leaving the shooting scene. 743

The woman, Marieme Bouguerba, is being represented by San Diego attorney Charles Field, a partner with Sanford Heisler Sharp, LLP "She's devastated. You have a single mother who lives with her parents, and she's trying to make things go and to have her entire life savings decimated like this is a major setback for her - both financially and emotionally," said Field.The lawsuit claims Mark Bernier trolls dating websites for vulnerable, high net worth women as part of his investment scams. It goes on to say he advertises himself as a licensed investment professional, attempts to build trust and confidence, and then aggressively seeks to separate the women from their money through purported investments.Bernier is listed as CEO for San Diego-based venture capital firm, VentureMoney Management Co. Field says his client met Bernier on the dating website MillionaireMatch.com, a site designed to help successful people find love. Field says Bernier has exchanged over 29,000 messages with over 3,000 women through the Millionaire Match website, to sell them worthless securities. "Well I think that's the mark of a good salesman, is that a good salesman can make a good pitch, can make a convincing pitch, and when it's backed by a legitimate looking website that has very prominent people on there, all that combined led her to believe that this was reputable," said Field.Field says Bernier scammed his client out of 0,000. While they received 0,000 back during mediation, Field says they are not being told where the rest of the money is."It seems reputable, when you look at the website it seems like he's [Bernier] trying to do good things, that's what it appears. But like I said, we asked where the money is, we asked what it was invested in, where it went, and we have not gotten any answers," said Field. Their lawsuit accuses Bernier of not even having a license to sell securities or give investment advice in California. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A frustrated neighborhood in Sabre Springs is preparing to fight back amid a string of car break-ins.Bill Powers owns a townhouse just off Poway Road where Sabre Springs meets Poway. A year ago, he says the reports on social media of car prowlers started to climb."Anger and frustration that it's happening right on my back doorstep," said Powers.An idea was born from that frustration.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhood"I think the use of a bait car would be really helpful," said Powers.He recently proposed the idea online and almost immediately, someone already volunteered their old car.Powers says the bait will be something like a used laptop, placed in plain view.  He'll pitch in some of the cameras, including GoPro cameras, to be mounted on homes and windows."Our goal is to get decent footage of the act and share it with proper authorities," said Powers.Powers is also looking for help."I have volunteers but definitely need more," said Powers.He's hoping for neighbors willing to take a shift watching the car. Powers tells 10News the volunteers will be following an "Observe and Report" to police or deputies protocol. Powers hopes to have the bait car up and running in the next few months. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 2-year-old-boy died and three other children became ill as a result of E. Coli linked to contact with animals at the San Diego County Fair, health officials said Friday. Four cases of infections have been confirmed in children ranging from 2 to 13 years old, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency.1st case: A 13-year-old girl visited the fair on June 8. Illness onset began on June 10. The girl is currently recovering and was not hospitalized.2nd case: A 11-year-old girl visited the fair on June 8 and 12. Illness onset began on June 12. The girl is currently recovering and was not hospitalized.3rd case: A 9-year-old boy visited the fair on June 13. Illness onset began on June 16. The boy is currently recovering and was not hospitalized.4th case: A 2-year-old boy visited the fair on June 15. Illness onset began on June 19. Boy suffered from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and was hospitalized. The boy died on June 24.The 2-year-old boy, identified by family members as Jedediah Cabezuela, died from Shiga-toxin-producing E. Coli (STEC). Health officials said Saturday there were no other clusters of Shiga-toxin in the county.E. Coli can cause the complication HUS. The condition destroys red blood cells and causes the kidneys fail, which can lead to death.The source of the E.Coli bacteria is under investigation by the County Department of Environmental Health, and Health and Human Services Epidemiology Program. County inspectors said the illnesses had no link to any food facilities the children accessed. SATURDAY PRESS CONFERENCE:All children visited the animal areas or the petting zoo, or had other animal contact at the fair, county health officials said. San Diego County Fair officials have closed public access to all animal areas, including the petting zoo, at the livestock barn on the eastern side of the Del Mar Fairgrounds.The cases are not directly related, officials said.Fair and health officials says they haven't definitively linked the cases to animals at the fair, but all cases share that factor and they are taking the proper precautions. County health officials asked anyone who experienced the symptoms on or after June 8 to contact their healthcare provider. People who do not wash their hands after petting an animal, or bring food or drinks into an area with animals, increase their chance of getting sick, CDC officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A car was found fully engulfed in flames on state Route 52 early Thursday morning, but authorities were unable to locate the driver.At around 4:20 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were called to a vehicle fire on westbound SR-52, just east of Santo Road, in the Tierrasanta area.As flames raged, CHP officers broke a side window to check if anyone was inside, but no one was found.Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze in about 5 minutes.The cause of the fire is under investigation. 528
