BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- China said Saturday that positive and balanced outcomes were achieved at the sixth summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) held earlier this week in the southern French city of Cannes."All the sides were committed at the summit to further coordinating their macro-economic policies, stabilizing the financial market, prompting economic growth, improving global economic governance and working together to maintain the hard-won momentum of the economic recovery," said Ma Zhaoxu, spokesman of the Chinese delegation after President Hu Jintao returned from Cannes, where Hu and the leaders of other G20 members' met to tackle major issues affecting global economic recovery and financial stability.The Chinese spokesman mentioned the Declaration, the Communique and the Action Plan issued after the meeting as "three outcome documents" of the G20 Cannes summit.Ma said priority was given to the European sovereign debt issue at the meeting."All the sides noted that the European Union has recently put forward a new series of measures and ideas to address the sovereign debt issue and hope that these measures will help Europe to stabilize the financial market, overcome the current difficulties and spur the economic recovery and development," he said.The Cannes Action Plan approved at the summit was meant to coordinate the macro-economic policies of all the members to endorse economic recovery and summon market confidence, said the spokesman. WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Rockefeller University confirmed Monday its Canadian-born cell biologist Ralph Steinman died three days before being awarded the Nobel Prize on Monday as the Nobel committee was unaware of his death at the time."Steinman passed away on September 30," the New York university said in a statement."He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer four years ago, and his life was extended using a dendritic-cell based immunotherapy of his own design."The Nobel committee was unaware of Steinman's death when announcing this year's winners and it was unclear whether the prize would be rescinded because Nobel statutes don't allow posthumous award."The Rockefeller University is delighted that the Nobel Foundation has recognized Ralph Steinman for his seminal discoveries concerning the body's immune responses," says Rockefeller University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne."But the news is bittersweet, as we also learned this morning from Ralph's family that he passed a few days ago after a long battle with cancer. YANGON, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar surgeons have successfully separated the fifth conjoined twin baby girls, official media reported Thursday.The surgical operation by Dr. Htoo Han and his assistants was performed on the two-year-and-one-month-old conjoined twins named Ma Ingyin Khaing and Ma Ingyin Hlaing in the Children's Hospital in Yangon Wednesday, according to the New Light of Myanmar daily.The separated twins, who are under extensive care in the hospital, are from Kawtin village in Laungton township in southern Tanintharyi region.Myanmar surgeons had carried out four successful similar surgical operations on twins in the past over two decades.The fourth twins, who are also baby girls named So Pyay Lin and So Pyay Win with their chests joined together, were successfully separated in October 2009.
