SPRING VALLEY, Calif (KGTV) -- As campuses like Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley remain closed because of COVID-19 concerns, some parents and students say they’re getting tired of waiting because they want a return to the classroom and sports.“I want to play my sport again. I want to see my friends. I’m a freshman, I want to get that high school experience", says Mason Asvell a student at Steele Canyon High.He wants to play water polo again.Under the current state rules, youth sports can practice as long as they follow the COVID-19 guidelines.What they can’t do is play games, and that’s something Troy Mack doesn’t agree with, that’s why he organized this rally with others parents and students. Mack's daughter plays golf, and he believes the decision to allow games should be based on each individual sport.Mack adds, “I’m just stumped why we can’t make this golf work. There isn’t much of a distant sport than golf.”And this is where the CDC stands on this issue. On their website, it says the risk of a COVID-19 spread increases based on the number of people a participant interacts with, how close they physically are to others, and if they share equipment with multiple players.A spokesperson for the county has said they are looking to the state to provide guidance when it comes to reopening youth sports, which some students say is a waiting game they don’t want to play.Student Kailyn DeGuzman says, “Our mental health is being drained and will continue to be drained if we don’t go back to in person and in school.”And until something changes, the parents ABC 10News spoke with say they’ll continue to find ways to make their voices heard. 1675

PETERSBURG, Fla. — Two assisted living facilities in St. Petersburg have been shut down after deplorable conditions were discovered.The St. Petersburg Police Department said they shut down two assisted living facilities after they discovered they had no running water, no power and broken windows. Officers said they also found drug paraphernalia.The two facilities are both run by Tampa Bay Behavioral Health.Officers said nine disabled adults have been displaced. A Masters super fan has decorated his bathroom into a golfer's dream.Gregg Thompson of Somers, Wisconsin has transformed his bathroom into an homage to all things golf and especially the Masters. After his kids moved out he and his wife decided to remodel the bathroom. Gregg suggested the idea and his wife was all for it."Convinced my wife that that was a good idea and fortunately she agreed with me," Thompson said.Inside he has two Masters flags. One was signed by Bubba Watson, the 2012 winner, and the other was signed by Ben Crenshaw who won the 1984 and 1995 Masters tournament. He has old school clubs, a Masters hat, a Masters shower curtain, multiple Masters books, a Masters 'Quiet Please' sign, and of course he has a mini putting green inside there. He uses his dad's old putter and said that if he can sink it in the bathroom with that ancient club, he will have a good day on the course."I feel like I'm almost there. SPRINGDALE, Utah — A woman who was missing for nearly two weeks has been found safe in Zion National Park.Authorities had been searching for 38-year-old Holly Suzanne Courtier after she didn't show up for her scheduled pickup in the park by a private shuttle on Oct. 6.She was found Sunday by search and rescue crews after rangers received a "credible tip" that a visitor had seen her in the park, the National Parks Service said. She has since been reunited with her family.“We are overjoyed that she was found safely today," Courtier's family said in a statement. "We would like to thank the rangers and search teams who relentlessly looked for her day and night and never gave up hope. We are also so grateful to the countless volunteers who were generous with their time, resources and support. This wouldn’t have been possible without the network of people who came together.”Courtier's daughter told CNN that her mother injured her head while hiking and became disoriented. "She injured her head on a tree," Chambers told CNN. "She was very disoriented as a result and thankfully ended up near a water source -- a river bed. Smoke from the raging wildfires on the West Coast has reached the eastern seaboard.Images from a NASA satellite show clouds of smoke stretching from coast to coast.The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says the smoke made its way east in two different directions. One trail of smoke crossed the Great Lakes region and reached upstate New York. Another path of smoke wound its way through Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and into the Mid-Atlantic.Some of the smoke even drifted up into Canada.The wildfires have led to hazardous air quality along parts of the West Coast, but air quality in most of the eastern U.S. is not affected. 657
