Dozens of trucks and thousands of volunteers delivered more than 260,000 Christmas wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery to honor fallen heroes.The rain Saturday didn't stop the day of service, which was made possible by the Wreaths Across America organization.  "If you look across this field of stones, it's massive, but we want to make sure that every individual receives a wreath and their name is spoken out loud,” says Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America.Larry Landon, a Boy Scout troop leader, donated his time, unboxing and placing wreaths with 14 of his Boy Scouts.“Our troop unloaded trucks,” he says. “Over 36,000 wreaths were laid here at Arlington, with the help of these boys.”It’s a tradition in its 27th year, spanning all 50 states and into 26 countries. (KGTV) — One man suffered severe injuries after he was hit by a vehicle in El Cajon on Saturday.El Cajon Police said the collision occurred at Jamacha Rd. and Sunnyland Ave. just before 6:30 p.m. It wasn't immediately clear how the man was struck by the vehicle.The man suffered head trauma and a severed foot, according to police. He was found unconscious when police arrived before he was taken to a nearby hospital. His condition was not immediately known.The driver remained at the scene. ECPD said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.Traffic on Jamacha Rd., from Lexington to Washington, will be closed for at least two hours while police investigate. 691

"Do we share the same hobbies, do we like the same music, and do we like to do similar things going hiking, going out drinking or happy hour."  If apps aren’t for you, Wei says to do what you like to do and meet people that way. So, if you like working out, you can meet friends at the gym. But if you’re going to stay in your comfort zone, you need to push yourself a little. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- A motorcyclist who crashed into a parked truck on a residential street in Fletcher Hills has died, El Cajon police said Tuesday.Shortly after the crash, some off-duty nurses rushed to help the critically injured motorcyclist, identified Wednesday as 36-year-old Julian Garcia, allowing emergency crews to rush him to the hospital.Jennifer Lepari said she heard a “loud boom” on Valley Lake Drive near Valley Mill Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday. “It almost shook the house. It was really, really loud,” she said.Lepari and her husband Jerome are both nurses. Jerome quickly used his belt as a tourniquet on the rider’s leg to staunch the bleeding while Jennifer applied pressure and spoke with dispatchers, according to neighbors.“With the amount of blood he lost and the time it took [for emergency crews to arrive], even the cops said [the rider] wouldn’t have lasted if [Jerome] hadn’t done that,” Lepari said.El Cajon police say the motorcyclist struck a parked work truck on Valley Mill Road for unknown reasons. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor but the crash is still under investigation, Lt. Randy Soulard said.A third off-duty nurse who lives around the block also tended to the badly injured rider, neighbors said.“It was awesome to see the people with that sort of medical experience jump in and not hesitate,” said a neighbor named Lisa.Once police arrived, an officer applied a second tourniquet to the rider’s leg, Lt. (KGTV) - Grandparents and their grandson escaped a house fire in El Cajon Wednesday night but they lost their family cat.The fire broke out in the back room of a home on Gladys St. at 11 p.m.Despite the danger, the grandson ran back into the home to find the cat. He suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics.Another grandson told 10News his grandparents are devastated because they had lived at the home. He started a GoFundMe account to help them recover.The fire was knocked down in 15 minutes. Heartland Fire crews are investigating the cause.A Heartland Fire Battalion Chief who was responding to the fire collided with a car while exiting Interstate 8 at Mollison, El Cajon police said.No one was hurt, but both vehicles had to be towed. 782
