TULSA -- More details are coming out about the woman who police in Oklahoma say brutally stabbed her 11-year-old daughter Monday night. Friends and family of Taheerah Ahmad said they are in complete shock that the mother could do something like this.Those close to Ahmad painted two different pictures of her. One picture is of a caring mother who loves her children in the public eye, and the other is an abusive, unstable mother inside of her home.“Whenever she would talk about her kids, everything was always positive. She never said anything crazy,” said a former coworker of Ahmad.The coworker, who didn’t want to go on camera with Scripps station KJRH in Tulsa, said she always seemed normal enough.“She would go out with us," the former coworker said. "She would have drinks with us. She just seems like a very nice person.”But as her coworkers got close to her, they said they noticed something was off and would start noticing little things about Ahmad. “I know she went by at least four different names,” a coworker said.Her coworker said whenever a shooting took the life of one of Ahmad's friends last year, Ahmad changed and became sad.Her coworker said she brought up her children all the time and always talked about them in positive ways.But neighbors said that’s just what Ahmad was telling her friends.RELATED: Suspect in Amber Alert, stabbing of daughter seen smiling after arrestMultiple neighbors, who also didn’t want to go on camera, said they often heard screaming from inside the home and said there was something eerie about the house.One neighbor even said several nights in the past week, he would see Ahmad performing what appeared to be rituals late at night around a fire.“I really don’t know if there’s any reasoning behind this, but I just hope whatever is wrong gets fixed,” the neighbor said. The mother is in jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of child neglect and one count of arson.The 11-year-old’s condition is still critical.  2103

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says "we're ready to question everything" about the social networking site that has been overrun by spam, abuse and misinformation.Dorsey says he and his team are working extensively behind the scenes to stamp out some of the harassment and hate speech that has generated bad headlines lately.But it is a long-term effort, he says, and he is reluctant to commit to an exact timetable for certain changes to Twitter's foundation.In twelve years, "we've changed a lot. But we haven't changed the underlying fundamentals," Dorsey told CNN in an in-depth interview at the company's headquarters on Friday.The basic fundamentals are what he is examining now. For instance: What does Twitter incentivize its users to do?"Every product decision we make is 'telling' them to do something," Dorsey said.So he is thinking about how to help users follow topics and hashtags, not just people."We are aware of some of the silos and how we're isolating people by only giving them crude tools to follow accounts. Tropical Depression Thirteen formed over the Atlantic late Wednesday night, and according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) the storm is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Laura on Thursday.Thirteen is about 830 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands, according to NHC’s 8 a.m. update. Unemployed in California will receive additional unemployment assistance from the federal government but it still remains unclear when the money will be available.On Saturday, the state’s Employment Development Department (EDD) announced the federal government approved its application for the Lost Wages Assistance program. The money is part of an executive order that President Donald Trump signed earlier this month.Additional funds will be available for a limited period of time, a minimum of three weeks. To qualify for the extra funds, people must receive at least 0 per week in benefits from EDD and certify that they are unemployed or partially unemployed because of the coronavirus pandemic.EDD will also give retroactive pay unemployment benefits dating back to August 1st. 794
