PHOENIX — Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego says one area hospital is nearing capacity in its morgue and may be requesting refrigerated trucks. The morgue at the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's office is also reportedly near capacity.Gallego said Friday morning that officials are looking at an option to prevent problems at the Phoenix-area Abrazo Health Hospital."It's specific just to one area…this is not a statewide problem," Gallego said. "Maricopa County... is looking at everything they can do."Abrazo Health later issued a statement saying that they have "adequate" morgue space, but are taking "proactive" steps to ensure they have overflow morgue space if needed.Gallego added that "we are losing too many Arizonans." PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. – Two sets of sisters graduated Marine Corps recruit training together, further strengthening their bonds.The Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in Parris Island, South Carolina, says one set includes Virginia sisters Ashley and Amber Valentine, while the other is comprised of Maria, Vanessa and Melissa Placido Jaramillo, who grew up in Nevada.According to MCRD, the Valentine sisters joined shortly after their grandfather passed away and wanted to carry on his legacy in the U.S. armed services.Ashley, 19, and Amber, 22, say having each other to rely on through training helped during some of their highest highs and lowest lows.“I went through a moment during first phase where I received some bad news in a letter, and she was there to be a shoulder for me to lean on,” Amber said in a press release posted to MCRD’s Facebook page.However, the Valentines won’t be attending combat training together, because Ashley suffered a hip fracture prior to graduation and must heal. After combat training, Amber plans to serve in the communications field and Ashley will be certified as a motor transportation operator.As for the Placido Jaramillo family, Maria, Vanessa and Melissa made a pact to join the military together when they were young children, according to MCRD. Melissa and Vanessa, both 22, are identical twins. Maria is a year younger than them at age 21.During recruit training, Melissa says the sisters succeeded thanks to friendly competition and daily positive affirmation.MCRD says the three sisters have yet to find out what military occupational specialty they will be assigned but are looking forward to what the Marine Corps has in store for them. Pfizer announced Friday that it would submit a request to the FDA Friday for its COVID-19 vaccine to be granted Emergency Use Authorization.Earlier this week, Pfizer said that a final analysis of trial results showed the vaccine is 95% effective.“Our work to deliver a safe and effective vaccine has never been more urgent, as we continue to see an alarming rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 globally. Filing in the U.S. represents a critical milestone in our journey to deliver a COVID-19 vaccine to the world and we now have a more complete picture of both the efficacy and safety profile of our vaccine, giving us confidence in its potential,” Dr. Albert Bourla, Pfizer Chairman and CEO, said in a press release.Pfizer's two-shot vaccine has already been in mass production for months, and thousands of doses will be ready for delivery if and when the FDA grants authorization. In a randomized survey of 8,000 participants, only 2% reported suffering severe fatigue, and only 4% reported suffering severe headaches. PINE VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man suspected of smuggling several people into the U.S. from Mexico led Border Patrol agents on a chase before injecting himself with heroin, the agency says. According to the agency, the incident happened around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Pine Valley immigration checkpoint. After approaching the checkpoint in a 2001 Mercedes sedan with five passengers, the man was referred to a secondary inspection area before speeding away. After sliding off the road along I-8 near the Pine Valley Road exit, all five of the passengers ran out of the vehicle and into nearby brush. The driver, however, stayed in the sedan and began injecting himself with a black substance later identified as heroin. He was arrested on smuggling charges and is currently undergoing a medically monitored detox. The group included two men, two women, and a 16-year-old boy.
